Position Overview
An industry-leading organization is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for a permanent, direct-hire placement to provide high-level, hands-on technical leadership across the software engineering division. In this remote-first role, you will shape and advance long-term technology strategies, lead the architecture of complex, highly scalable platforms, and establish reusable components, patterns, and engineering practices to elevate productivity across all development teams. You will partner closely with Product, Architecture, Information Security, and executive stakeholders to translate ambiguous, enterprise-level initiatives into secure, maintainable software that supports both immediate priorities and future strategic goals.
The ideal candidate blends deep software engineering expertise with exceptional technical judgment, a cooperative mindset, and a proven ability to influence architecture, code quality, and engineering direction across multiple cross-functional groups.

  • Team Mentorship & Growth: Elevate engineering capability across the broader organization through technical mentorship, design leadership, code reviews, knowledge sharing, and practical coaching of senior engineers.
  • Technology Innovation: Evaluate emerging technologies, including AI-assisted development tools, and apply them thoughtfully to accelerate delivery and improve workflows.
Key Responsibilities
  • Build, test, deploy, monitor, scale, and continuously improve complex, enterprise-scale production software and platforms.
  • Turn ambiguous product concepts and enterprise business needs into reliable technical strategies, architecture, and executable plans.
  • Own and guide solution designs across the engineering organization in alignment with future-state architecture, security expectations, and scalability needs.
  • Establish and drive adoption of reusable components, frameworks, patterns, and tooling to maintain architectural consistency across engineering groups.
  • Lead enterprise technical design reviews, architecture decisions, code reviews, and the resolution of the most complex or systemic engineering challenges.
  • Identify systemic architectural bottlenecks and technical debt, and lead durable, data-informed solutions across the engineering organization rather than short-term fixes.
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools responsibly to accelerate development, debugging, unit test creation, and documentation while maintaining complete ownership of final code security and maintainability.
  • Evaluate and guide the adoption of modern technologies and engineering approaches that reduce organizational friction, improve delivery, and enhance user and client experiences.
  • Provide occasional on-site support at corporate or designated project facilities as operational needs dictate.
Required Background & Experience
Education & Experience
  • Degree: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or an equivalent technical field.
  • Experience Level: 8 to 10 years of deep professional software engineering experience.
  • Leadership Focus: Proven track record of leading technical strategy and architecture across multiple organizational areas, guiding complex modernization efforts, and driving alignment without formal authority.
Technical Skills & Toolkit
  • Modern Stacks: Deep hands-on experience building complex, production-grade applications using multiple modern programming languages and framework ecosystems, with the ability to select the right tools based on enterprise needs.
  • Cloud & Containers: Proven experience working inside the Azure cloud ecosystem along with containerization tools like Docker .
  • Architecture Patterns: Advanced knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, RESTful API design, event-driven setups, and message brokers like Service Bus .
  • DevOps & Automation: Direct experience building out automated CI/CD deployment paths and using Terraform for Infrastructure as Code.
  • Data Platforms: Proficiency in SQL and relational database systems (specifically SQL Server ), with exposure to polyglot data architectures, Databricks , or modern data platforms.
  • ORM Frameworks: Familiarity with modern Object-Relational Mappers such as Entity Framework , Dapper , or equivalent light options.
  • Telemetry & Monitoring: Experience setting up observability dashboards and metrics using Application Insights and querying with KQL .
