Staff Software Engineer

Role Overview

Our Client is seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer to help anchor and drive the overarching technology strategy across our core engineering teams. In this position, you will architect, build, and deploy resilient, highly scalable, and reusable software solutions explicitly engineered to maximize development velocity and enhance platform-wide delivery efficiencies.

You will work cross-functionally alongside product, architecture, and engineering leadership to transform high-level commercial objectives into actionable, production-grade systems. Through interactive technical design sessions, rapid prototyping, and comprehensive code reviews, you will champion technical excellence in quality, security, and performance while directly steering the platform toward its long-term strategic targets.

Key Responsibilities

• Platform Architecture: Design, build, test, deploy, and continuously perfect high-availability distributed software architectures using industry best practices.
• Shared Frameworks: Engineer modular, reusable components, standardized patterns, and core development tools to resolve cross-cutting engineering requirements across teams.
• Cross-Functional Design: Collaborate closely with product owners and UX designers to break down conceptual roadmaps into scannable technical blueprints and high-value, iterative releases.
• Technical Advocacy: Partner with data and cloud architects to define, document, and champion platform standards, clean design patterns, and engineering best practices.
• Strategy & Spikes: Participate in and facilitate architectural reviews, deep-dive design spike investigations, and strategic brainstorming sessions to ensure platform alignment.
• Advanced Mentorship: Lead extensive code reviews to guarantee code safety, enforce standard operating procedures, and provide constructive, technical mentorship to engineering staff.
• Root-Cause Analysis: Triage and debug highly complex, multi-system infrastructure bottlenecks across distributed networks to implement resilient, long-term remedies.
• Process Automation: Foster an engineering-first culture focused heavily on advanced automation, continuous telemetry, test coverage, and security-first development.
• Tech Discovery: Analyze emerging market frameworks, third-party libraries, and vendor software to evaluate technical utility, performance impacts, and business value.

Technical Profile & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a relevant technical discipline (Advanced degrees highly preferred).
• Experience: 7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience architecting and maintaining production-grade, commercial applications.
• Tech Stack: Expert-level mastery writing applications utilizing JavaScript/TypeScript, .NET Core, or closely related object-oriented languages, alongside a proven capacity to learn new systems quickly.
• Engineering Breadth: Direct architectural experience utilizing at least three or more of the following technical domains:
• CI/CD orchestration platforms
• RESTful or GraphQL API ecosystems
• Serverless compute systems (e.g., AWS Lambda, Azure Functions)
• Containerization frameworks and management tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
• Infrastructure as Code environments (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep)
• Hyperscale cloud architecture platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform)
• Enterprise application observability, tracing, and logging platforms
• Event-driven infrastructure, streaming networks, or pub/sub brokers (e.g., Kafka, EventBridge)
• System Design: Extensive background engineering applications based on microservices, decentralized nodes, componentized designs, or complex distributed topologies.
• Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communications skills, with a track record of translating complex technical concepts to non-technical business partners in a globally distributed setup.
• Mindset: An inquisitive, innovative approach with a strong drive to leverage advanced automation tools and AI workflows to eliminate developer friction.
