Senior Decision Scientist SME Lending

Birmingham based role - Up to 75K

I'm currently recruiting for a Senior Decision Scientist to join a growing financial services business, working at the forefront of SME lending and automated credit decisioning.

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to take ownership of the full model lifecycle from identifying the problem and building models through to deployment, monitoring and optimisation - while working closely with Data, Risk and Product teams.

What you'll be doing

• Develop and deploy ML and statistical models across credit risk, affordability and pricing
• Own models end-to-end, including data, feature engineering, modelling, validation, deployment and monitoring
• Build model monitoring frameworks and performance dashboards
• Explore new data sources, challenger models and A/B testing to improve decisioning
• Turn complex analysis into clear, commercially focused insights
• Work closely with both technical and senior business stakeholders to influence lending strategy

What I'm looking for

• Strong Machine Learning experience within SME lending
• Strong Python and SQL skills
• Proven experience taking models through the full development lifecycle
• Background in FinTech, lending or automated decisioning
• Good understanding of UK credit risk and regulatory requirements
• Confident communicator who can bridge the gap between Data, Risk and Commercial teams

Desirable: Consumer lending experience, model governance/monitoring experience, and a strong commercial mindset with genuine ownership.
