Job Description

LOCATION: Harlow

WORKING HOURS: 7:00 am – 17:00 Monday to Friday

REPORTING TO: Manager

RESPONSIBLE FOR: None

MAIN PURPOSE/OBJECTIVES OF ROLE:

The Groundworker/ Dumper Driver will safely and efficiently operate a forward tipping dumper (FTD) to transport and unload materials such as soil, gravel, sand, rubble, and construction waste safely around construction sites, quarries, and civil engineering projects while following all health and safety regulations and supporting site operations.

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate a forward tipping dumper / Rollersafely and competently.

  • Transport materials including soil, aggregates, stone, sand, and waste across the site.

  • Load, transport, and tip materials in designated locations.

  • Carry out daily pre-start inspections and report any defects or maintenance requirements.

  • Ensure the dumper is clean, fuelled, and maintained in good working order.

  • Follow site traffic management plans and speed limits.

  • Work closely with plant operators, banksmen, and groundworkers.

  • Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations.

  • Wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

  • Assist with general site duties when required.

  • Keep accurate records of inspections and report incidents or near misses promptly.

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience operating a forward tipping dumper on construction or civil engineering sites.

  • Good awareness of construction site safety.

  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious.

Qualifications:

  • Valid CPCS or NPORS Dumper / Roller certification.

  • Full UK driving licence (desirable).

  • Health and Safety awareness training (desirable).

Working Conditions:

  • Outdoor work in varying weather conditions.

  • Early starts and occasional weekend work may be required.

  • Physically demanding environment with exposure to noise, dust, and uneven terrain.
