About the Role

As Pacific Energy continues to expand its Power Systems capability, we're seeking Expressions of Interest from experienced Senior and Principal Power Systems Engineers to join our growing Design & Engineering team in Brisbane.

Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will provide technical expertise across power system studies, grid connection activities, control system modelling and system optimisation initiatives. For Principal-level candidates, there will be additional opportunities to provide technical leadership, mentor engineers and influence strategic engineering outcomes across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver power system modelling and analysis activities across a range of generation, renewable energy and microgrid projects.
  • Execute and review power system studies using software such as PSS E, PSCAD and PowerFactory.
  • Support model development, validation, benchmarking and cross-platform model conversion activities.
  • Undertake grid connection studies and support compliance requirements across Australian electricity markets.
  • Complete system sizing, design validation and power system tuning studies.
  • Prepare technical reports, recommendations and engineering documentation.
  • Collaborate with project, operational and commercial teams to deliver successful project outcomes.
  • Stay abreast of industry developments, standards and regulatory changes impacting the energy sector.

About You

We're interested in hearing from engineers who are passionate about solving complex power system challenges and supporting Australia's energy transition.

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience within the power, utilities or broader energy sector.
  • Strong knowledge of power system analysis and grid connection studies in Australian electricity markets (NEM, SWIS and/or NWIS).
  • Experience using power system modelling tools such as PSCAD, PSS E, PowerFactory and/or Python.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and technical reporting skills.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Experience automating power system studies through scripting.
  • RPEQ, NER and/or CPEng accreditation.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership, mentoring or engineering governance experience will be highly regarded for Principal-level opportunities.
