GitHub Engineer

GitHub actions, GitHub enterprise level admin activities, reusable workflows, SSO setup etc. This is mandatory requirement from client.

Must-Have Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with GitHub Enterprise Cloud/Server administration
• Extensive experience creating and managing GitHub Actions workflows using YAML
• Designing and implementing reusable workflows and composite actions
• Automating pipeline/workflow creation using GitHub APIs, templates, and automation frameworks
• Deep understanding of GitHub Apps, OAuth Apps, and GitHub authentication models
• Experience with OIDC federation, Azure Entra ID, Service Principals, and RBAC
• Azure integration with GitHub Actions for secure deployments
• Enterprise governance including:

• SSO integration with Entra ID
• MFA enforcement
• Branch protection rules
• Repository rulesets
• Secret scanning
• Dependabot
• Least-privilege access controls

Azure Knowledge Required

• Azure App Services
• AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service)
• Azure API Management
• Key Vault
• Managed Identities
• Azure Networking and Security
• Infrastructure deployment through GitHub Actions

Key Expectation from the Candidate

The candidate should not be viewed as a traditional Azure Cloud Engineer with GitHub exposure. Instead, we need a GitHub Platform Engineer/SME who can:

• Lead Azure DevOps to GitHub migration initiatives.
• Design enterprise-wide GitHub Actions frameworks.
• Create reusable workflow standards and automate pipeline generation.
• Manage GitHub Enterprise governance, security, and compliance.
• Implement secure Azure-GitHub integrations using OIDC and modern authentication methods.
• Support enterprise repository management, organizational policies, and platform automation.

In summary, GitHub Actions, GitHub Enterprise Administration, Migration Strategy, Automation, and Azure-GitHub Integration are the primary focus areas, while Azure infrastructure knowledge serves as a supporting skill set.
