Sr. Java Spring Developer

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for Sr. Java Spring Developer for a contract assignment with one of our premier Financial Services clients in Mississauga, ON.
Responsibilities :

• This role is highly visible and will provide exposure to Spread Products business. There will be regular interactions with business stakeholders, and global IT teams. The successful candidate will be involved in important projects in the scope of Spread Products Risk and Capital function area. As such he/she will have the opportunity to play a key role in the long term strategic roadmap.
• Strong involvement into the design of Server components. Develop components in Java
• Planning software releases
• 2nd level support for applications
• Work with business analyst and stakeholders to interpret business requirements and create system design based on requirements
• Develop test cases to test codebase thoroughly
• Apply software engineering best practice methodologies to produce high quality applications which provide solution to complex business problems
• Able to take initiative, and can work productively when unsupervised and can multitask across multiple concurrent projects

  • Middle Office
  • Regulatory Reform Team
  • Dependent Technology teams (Trade, Risk and Shared Services)

Required Skills:

• Solid 10+ years of experience with Java development
• Graduate/post graduate with computer degree/math.
• Requires good communication, presentation and written skills.
• Extensive experience in building Distributed / Service Oriented / Microservice-style and cloud based architectures (Amazon, ECS, Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes)
• Hands-on experience with RESTful service implementations.
• Hands-on experience with rational databases like Oracle, SQLServer
• Hands-on experience with Linux/Unix Shell
• Extensive experience with Jenkins, TeamCity, Sonar Cube, BitBucket
• Strong understanding of different storage architectures and their appropriate application.
• Experience and familiarity building modern Spring applications with Spring Boot
• Experience in software development SDLC (Agile)
• Excellent knowledge of Multithreading, Thread-Pools with strong OOP and OOAD skills
• Experienced in developing real time low latency applications
• Exposure to or experience in message driven architectures, including Kafka, EMS
• Strong verbal and written communication
• Goal, Client and deadline oriented
• Strong analytical and problem solving
• Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines
• Ability to work with globally distributed teams

Preferred Skills:

• Prior Investment Banking Risk system experience is highly desirable
• Experience in message broker
• Exposure with Clojure will be big plus
