Job Description

Welder | Airdrie, Lanarkshire, United Kingdom | On-site | £38,662 – plus 33% shift allowance

The Role

  • Weld carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminium using various processes including MMA, MAG, MIG, FCAW, and automatic/semi-automatic methods.
  • Produce high-quality butt and fillet welds, utilising techniques with ceramic tiles within FCAW/MAG processes.
  • Conduct self-verification of all welds to ensure consistent quality and compliance with standards.
  • Adhere to strict safety working practices and SHE requirements, implementing effective fume-control measures.
  • Work as part of a collaborative team to deliver complex welding solutions on significant projects.

What You'll Need

  • A Modern Apprenticeship certificate or Trade Papers, along with relevant mechanical qualifications (e.g., SVQ3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in ceramic-tile welding, Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), Metal-Cored Arc Welding (MCAW), and associated equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce welds that consistently meet visual and NDE examination standards.
  • Skill in welding carbon steel materials within a 4–15 mm thickness range.
  • A solid understanding of SHE requirements and the application of risk-assessment principles in welding activities.
  • Previous experience in maritime, construction, manufacturing, or similar environments, including MIG aluminium welding and automated welding systems.
