SAP Enterprise Architect - ECC to S/4HANA Migration
Quick Overview
Job Description
SAP Enterprise Architect (Functional) ECC to S/4HANA Migration
Location: Scottsdale, AZ or Woonsocket, RI — onsite (client-facing role; not remote)
Durtaion: 12+ Months
About the Role
A Fortune 50 client is mid-flight on an ECC to S/4HANA migration, now entering Phase 2. Significant workstreams are transitioning to our team from the incumbent system integrator, and we need a senior functional architect on the ground in Scottsdale to own that landing.
This is the linchpin role. You are the single point of coordination across a distributed onshore and offshore team, and you are the direct face to the customer. When something falls between two workstreams, it is yours. That framing is deliberate — we are hiring for ownership as much as for architecture.
What You''ll Do
• Own the functional architecture across the S/4HANA migration — the overarching view, not one module in isolation.
• Take delivery ownership end to end: shepherd deliverables across the team, spot the gaps between workstreams, and close them before they become client issues.
• Lead the knowledge transition from the incumbent SI, absorbing design decisions, open items, and history without losing momentum.
• Coordinate onshore and offshore resources as one team — set the cadence, run the stand-ups, hold the line on accountability.
• Serve as the primary functional point of contact for the client: present, explain, negotiate scope, and escalate cleanly.
• Bring AI into the delivery motion. We expect efficiency gains from AI-assisted development and analysis, and we want an architect who is actively pushing that rather than watching it.
• Close out remaining Phase 1 tail work while driving Phase 2 forward.
• Mentor and raise the bar for the consultants around you.
What We''re Looking For
Must have:
• [15]+ years in SAP functional consulting, with recent time in an architect or lead capacity.
• Breadth across modules. This role needs someone who knows a bit of everything — enough working depth across FI/CO, MM, SD, PP, and adjacent areas to reason about the whole landscape and speak credibly to any workstream. Deep specialization in one or two is expected; a single-module profile is not a fit.
• At least one full ECC to S/4HANA migration lifecycle, hands-on, with a real understanding of where these programs actually break.
• Demonstrated experience leading blended onshore/offshore teams.
• Experience working alongside or transitioning from a Big 4 / global SI — you can hold your own in that room.
• Exceptional communication and professional presence. This client places a high value on how work is communicated, not just whether it lands. You will be in large forums with senior stakeholders. Composure, clarity, and a solutions-first tone are hard requirements for this role, not soft preferences.
• Willing and able to be onsite in Scottsdale, AZ.
Strong plus:
• Working knowledge of SAP''s AI capabilities and practical experience applying AI to accelerate delivery.
• ABAP literacy — enough to read it, review it, and talk to your technical counterparts.
• SAP Group Reporting, SAC Analytics, or similar niche depth.
• Healthcare, retail pharmacy, or comparable regulated-enterprise experience.
