Job Description

About Welbeck Cambridge

Welbeck Cambridge is a state-of-the-art private day-case centre created to deliver exceptional healthcare in an environment designed around the needs of patients and clinicians alike. As part of the wider Welbeck Health Partners network, the centre provides diagnostics, outpatient services and day-case procedures across a range of specialties, combining clinical excellence with outstanding service.

At Welbeck, we believe healthcare should be seamless, reassuring and genuinely patient-centred. Every interaction matters, and we're committed to creating an experience that is efficient, professional and welcoming from the very first enquiry through to treatment and beyond.

As our services continue to grow, we're looking for passionate and talented people who share our ambition to raise standards and help redefine the private healthcare experience.

About the Role

Reporting to the Mammography Lead, you'll support patients throughout their diagnostic journey, ensuring they receive high-quality, compassionate care while helping the department run smoothly and efficiently.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced healthcare support worker or healthcare assistant looking to develop their career within a growing private healthcare organisation.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Supporting patients throughout their imaging appointments and procedures.

  • Preparing patients for examinations and acting as a chaperone when required.

  • Assisting radiographers and clinicians during consultations and procedures.

  • Ensuring patients are treated with dignity, respect and compassion at all times.

  • Maintaining accurate patient records using departmental systems including RIS/PACS and CompuCare.

  • Supporting stock management, equipment checks and departmental organisation.

  • Recognising and escalating patient concerns or changes in condition appropriately.

  • Contributing to a safe clinical environment through adherence to infection prevention, radiation safety and governance requirements.

About You

You are a caring, compassionate and professional healthcare support worker who is passionate about delivering an outstanding patient experience. You will have an NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) and previous experience working within a clinical healthcare environment. You are confident supporting patients throughout their care journey and understand the importance of maintaining dignity, privacy and respect at all times.

You are highly organised, able to prioritise a varied workload and remain calm and professional in a busy clinical setting. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as you'll be working closely with patients, radiographers, consultants and multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the department.

You will be comfortable using a range of IT systems and Microsoft Office applications, with a keen eye for detail when maintaining accurate patient records and departmental documentation. You are a proactive team player who can work independently when required, takes pride in delivering high standards and is committed to patient safety and quality care.

Ideally, you'll hold a current Basic Life Support qualification and have experience in venepuncture and peripheral cannulation. Previous experience within a radiology or diagnostic imaging environment would also be advantageous, although not essential. Most importantly, you will share our values of collaboration, ambition, kindness and empowerment, and be motivated to make a positive difference to every patient's experience.
