Project Lead - New Process Development/ Manufacturing
Location: Ellesmere Port
Type: Permanent
Salary: CIRCA £50,000, there may be some flex for exceptional candidates
Hours: onsite, CIRCA 3 weeks additional travel PA (international)
Additional: Up to 20% annual bonus, Life assurance at 4x annual salary, company pension etc
Russell Taylor is working exclusively with an international engineering and manufacturing business to recruit a Project Lead for their specialist technical and innovation team (role created through promotion). This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer or project professional to take ownership of a varied portfolio of new process development, technology and CAPEX projects, helping shape the future direction of the business.
The role:
You'll take ownership of multiple new process, technology and capital projects, helping turn ideas and innovation into real-world manufacturing capability.
You'll work closely with engineering, operations, R&D, suppliers and wider technical teams, taking projects through Stage Gate processes from initial concept and trials through to implementation.
Leading multiple new process, technology and innovation projects
Managing projects through structured Stage Gate / PMO processes
Supporting and developing CAPEX proposals, budgets and investment cases
Identifying and trialling new technologies, equipment and processes
Working with suppliers and internal teams to take ideas from concept through to implementation
Using data, trials and Design of Experiments (DOE) to support decision making
Providing technical support to manufacturing and operations teams
Helping shape future technology and product development strategies
Potentially providing day-to-day/dotted-line leadership to technical or scientific team members depending on the project portfolio
The Person;
We're particularly interested in people from mechanical engineering, process engineering, manufacturing or R&D backgrounds who have experience delivering projects and making things happen.
You could come from industries such as:
Glass, Ceramics, Refractories, Iron & Steel, Automotive, Petrochemical, Mechanical Design & Manufacturing, Industrial R&D
You'll ideally have:
An engineering degree, or similar (physics etc) or equivalent practical experience
Experience delivering engineering, manufacturing, process or R&D projects
Exposure to CAPEX and project budgeting
Understanding of Stage Gate, PMO or structured project methodologies
Strong stakeholder and communication skills
The ability to challenge, influence and drive projects forward
Experience with CAD packages would be advantageous
A hands-on, practical approach to problem solving
