Job Description

Project Director – CAT A / CAT B Workplace

The Shore Group has been appointed to identify an exceptional Project Director on behalf of a highly successful £65Million + and growing commercial interiors contractor delivering Design & Build and Traditional Fit-Out projects across the UK workplace sector.

This is a business with an established reputation, a substantial repeat client base and long-standing relationships across both occupier and landlord markets.

Their portfolio includes CAT A and CAT B workplace projects, working closely with clients, consultants and professional teams to deliver outstanding environments.

This Is Not a Traditional Project Director Role

We're not looking for someone who manages projects from a distance.

We're looking for a leader who enjoys being involved.

Someone who understands how projects are won, how relationships are built and how successful delivery starts long before work reaches site.

This role requires an individual who can seamlessly move between client conversations, consultant engagement, pre-construction strategy, commercial review and project delivery.

If you're looking for a position where you simply oversee teams and receive updates, this probably isn't the opportunity for you.

If, however, you enjoy shaping projects from inception, influencing outcomes, getting into the detail and remaining accountable throughout the project lifecycle, we'd like to hear from you.

The Opportunity

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced project professional who has built their career within the commercial interiors sector and wants to play a more influential role in both work-winning and project success. Perhaps you've reached the point where you want greater ownership of client relationships and involvement in the early stages of project procurement.

Or perhaps you're tired of working within structures where project winning and project delivery are disconnected. This opportunity offers the chance to become a genuine client-facing leader, taking responsibility for projects from initial engagement through to successful completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with clients, project managers, cost consultants, architects and professional teams.
  • Supporting business development and work-winning activities through existing relationships and market engagement.
  • Leading projects through pre-construction, tender and procurement stages.
  • Working closely with design, commercial and operational teams to develop winning solutions.
  • Providing strategic input whilst remaining actively involved in project detail.
  • Acting as a trusted adviser throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintaining involvement following contract award to ensure commitments made during pre-construction are successfully delivered.
  • Working collaboratively with delivery teams to ensure projects are executed in line with client expectations.
  • Identifying opportunities for repeat business and long-term client partnerships.
  • Driving project performance, client satisfaction and commercial outcomes.

About You

The successful individual is likely to demonstrate:

  • A proven track record within either a D&B or Traditional Fit Out Main Contractor specifically delivering CAT B workplace projects
  • A clear understanding of both pre-construction and operational delivery.
  • Direct involvement in tendering, bidding and work-winning activities.
  • Strong relationships across clients, consultants and professional teams.
