Job Description

HOKALI helps schools book, organize, and manage after-school programs and camps. We partner with school communities to create structured, engaging environments for students after the school day ends, with a focus on consistency, safety, and high-quality program delivery.

In this role, you will help create a positive after-school experience for students and families by leading a group with energy, care, and clear structure. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children, can keep a group engaged, and brings a calm, steady presence to the day-to-day flow of an after-care program.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a group of up to approximately 20 students from TK through 8th grade after school.
  • Keep every child safe throughout the program.
  • Run recreational activities and games.
  • Help students with homework.
  • Manage behavior using positive reinforcement.
  • Handle snack time and outdoor play.
  • Keep attendance and incident records.
  • Follow HOKALI's lesson plans.
  • Work with support from an on-site Site Coordinator.

What makes someone a great fit

We're looking for someone with proven, hands-on experience running a group of children, not just being around kids. You should already know how to get a group of children to listen, keep them engaged, and maintain a safe, structured environment.

Must-haves

  • At least 6 months of hands-on experience independently leading groups of children, including being solely responsible for the group, keeping children safe, and managing behavior without another adult stepping in.
  • Experience leading games and activities for groups of children.
  • Experience keeping attendance records for groups of children.
  • Willingness to complete required training before starting, including Mandated Reporter, First Aid & CPR, and Concussion Awareness.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Eligible to work in the United States.
  • Available every weekday afternoon for the full school year.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting homework for school-age children.
  • Experience supervising snack time and outdoor play for groups of children.
  • Experience with middle school students (grades 6-8).
  • Experience working with both younger children and middle school students.
  • Experience handling conflicts between children calmly.
  • Experience documenting incidents involving children, including injuries, conflicts, or parent communication.
  • Fluency in Spanish.
  • Access to the HOKALI Academy – a community space designed to help all Educators learn, connect, and collaborate
  • Structured lesson plans provided, with flexibility to bring your own ideas to class
  • Opportunities for professional growth and expanded roles within HOKALI
  • Educator Referral Program with bonus incentives
