Job description

Senior Azure & Microsoft 365 Cloud Engineer
Support and improve secure Azure and Microsoft 365 environments across a major Australian Government collaboration platform, with a focus on cloud operations, identity, security, endpoint management and automation.

Location:ACT
Contract Duration: 12 months + 2 x 12-month extensions
Security Clearance Requirement: NV1
Closing Date: 10.00am, Thursday, 22 October 2026

Essential Tasks
  • Support, manage and improve Microsoft 365 tenancies and related Azure services.
  • Administer Microsoft Entra ID, RBAC, Conditional Access, SSO and MFA.
  • Manage Azure infrastructure, networking, monitoring, backup and disaster recovery.
  • Automate tenant and infrastructure tasks using PowerShell, Azure CLI and IaC tooling.
Key Criteria
  • Strong Azure and Microsoft 365 engineering experience across complex enterprise environments.
  • Hands on experience with Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams and Intune.
  • Experience with Microsoft Defender, Purview, DLP, security monitoring and cloud governance.
  • Strong understanding of Australian Government security, risk and assurance requirements.

Due to the nature of this environment, candidates must hold a current NV1 clearance.
