Network Engineer

• Location: Canberra ACT
• Initial Contract: 12 months contract + 2 X 12 months extension
• Must be an Australian Citizen with an active NV2 clearance

FinXL is seeking an expert Network Engineer to design, implement, and optimize secure, resilient network infrastructure solutions within Defence. This critical role centers on developing high-performing network architectures involving secure gateways and cloud capabilities to support modern, collaborative environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop robust network architectures, including LAN, WAN, gateway services, and cloud connectivity.
• Ensure all network solutions strictly align with organizational standards, security policies, and strict regulatory requirements.
• Conduct meticulous capacity planning, network performance analysis, and optimization across all connected systems.
• Lead technical evaluations and provide authoritative recommendations for emerging network technologies and infrastructure upgrades.
• Develop and maintain highly detailed network documentation, network topology diagrams, and rigorous configuration standards.
• Collaborate closely with diverse stakeholders to successfully translate operational business requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Provide expert, tier-3 level support for complex network anomalies, routing issues, and technical escalations.
• Contribute directly to disaster recovery planning and network resilience strategies.

Technical Skill & Experience:

• Extensive, proven experience in high-level network design and engineering roles within enterprise environments.
• Strong technical understanding of secure Gateways, F5 load balancers, routing, switching, firewalls, and core network security principles.
• Deep proficiency in leading enterprise networking platforms such as Cisco, Juniper, or equivalent systems.
• Demonstrated knowledge of cloud networking architectures (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure) and virtualisation technologies.
• Relevant professional certifications such as CCNP, CCDP, or equivalent enterprise credentials.
