Care Assistant Working Hours

We have a variety of Care Assistant shifts available, offering between 6 and 30 hours per week.

Our regular shift patterns include:

• Morning shifts: 7:00am–2:15pm
• Evening shifts: 4:00pm–10:00pm
• Alternative weekend working
• Weekend-only Care Assistant positions also available

What Does a Care Assistant Do?

As a Home Care Assistant, you'll visit clients in their own homes and provide personalised care and support.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing companionship and emotional support
• Helping older people remain safe and independent at home
• Supporting clients with personal care, always maintaining dignity and respect
• Assisting with meal preparation and encouraging healthy eating
• Providing medication reminders in line with care plans
• Supporting clients with their daily routines and wellbeing
• Building positive, trusting relationships with clients and their families

As a Care Assistant at Home Instead, you'll never be expected to rush your visits. Our minimum one-hour calls allow you to provide meaningful, person-centred care.

What We Look for in a Care Assistant

You don't necessarily need previous care experience to become a Care Assistant. We look for people who have the right attitude and genuinely want to make a difference.

We're looking for Care Assistants who are:

• Patient, reliable and trustworthy
• Good communicators who enjoy spending time with older people
• Respectful of people's independence, privacy and dignity
• Passionate about providing high-quality care and companionship

Essential requirements:

• Full UK driving licence
• Access to reliable transport
• A genuine passion for supporting older people

Previous experience as a Care Assistant, Support Worker, Healthcare Assistant or Domiciliary Care Worker is desirable but not essential.

No formal care qualifications are required. We provide full paid training, a comprehensive induction and ongoing support to help you become a confident and successful Care Assistant.
