Job Description
We are looking for a hands-on Service Engineer to join their team, keeping critical plant and equipment running across sites in Northern Ireland with additional requirements for work at sites in Scotland. If you're a practical problem-solver with a background in mechanical or electrical maintenance and enjoy variety in your working week, this could be the role for you.
About the Role
As Service Engineer, you'll be responsible for the preventive and corrective maintenance of plant equipment, including steam boiler systems, ensuring everything runs safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime. You'll work both independently and alongside subcontractors, applying strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills to resolve issues quickly.
This role will occasionally require travel to sites in Scotland, so flexibility around travel is important.
What You'll Be Doing
- Carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance on plant and field equipment
- Diagnosing and resolving faults using strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills
- Working with PLC control systems as part of maintenance and commissioning activity
- Supporting plant commissioning projects
- Maintaining and servicing steam boiler systems
- Managing stock levels for spare parts and materials
- Overseeing and coordinating subcontractors on site
- Carrying out risk assessments and maintaining full compliance with health and safety standards
- Planning and organising your own workload across multiple sites
What We're Looking For
- Around 2 years' relevant experience in a similar maintenance or field service engineering role
- Strong fault-finding, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities
- Experience with PLC control systems
- Steam boiler maintenance experience desirable
- Comfortable managing subcontractors and coordinating on-site work
- Good organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage your own time
- Confident communicator, proactive, and a continuous learner
- Competent with Microsoft Office
- Willingness to travel to sites in Scotland as required
