Job Description

Security Infrastructure Engineer Defence

Contract: 69 Months
Location: Frimley & Client Sites
Working Model: Project dependent currently 12 weeks onsite per month
Rate: Competitive day rate
Clearance: Active UK SC required
Travel: UK & international travel required

We are looking for an experienced Security Infrastructure Engineer to join a major programme within the UK defence sector.

This is a hands-on engineering role sitting across cyber security, infrastructure, networking and cloud. You will support the design, configuration and deployment of security tooling across both cloud and on-premise environments, while acting as a technical SME to project teams and clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, configure and deploy a range of security tools.

  • Build and support infrastructure across cloud and on-premise environments.

  • Deploy and manage virtual machines and containerised platforms.

  • Define infrastructure requirements including CPU, RAM, storage and network bandwidth.

  • Configure networking including TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, routers and switches.

  • Support the configuration of network security devices.

  • Integrate security tooling with identity and access management solutions.

  • Apply appropriate security controls and compliance frameworks.

  • Develop test procedures covering functional and non-functional requirements.

  • Assess existing environments and recommend technical improvements.

  • Act as a technical SME, working directly with clients and stakeholders.

Essential Experience
  • Active UK SC clearance.

  • Strong Linux administration experience, including configuration, package management and scripting.

  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP and networking fundamentals.

  • Experience with network configuration including VLANs, DNS, routing and switching.

  • Experience working with cloud infrastructure such as AWS or Azure.

  • Experience deploying and managing VMs and containerised environments.

  • Knowledge of technologies such as Docker and/or Kubernetes.

  • Experience deploying or supporting cyber security tooling.

  • Strong troubleshooting and technical problem-solving skills.

  • Comfortable learning and working with unfamiliar security technologies.

  • Strong client-facing and stakeholder communication skills.

Important

Candidates must hold active UK SC clearance and be comfortable travelling to Frimley, other UK client sites and internationally when required.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Security Infrastructure Engineer to work across a varied technology estate within a complex, security-critical defence environment.
