At Hendon Preparatory School, we're looking for a friendly, professional and safety-conscious Home to School Driver to join our transport team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people, takes pride in delivering excellent customer service, and wants to play an important role in ensuring pupils travel safely to and from school each day.
As one of the first faces our pupils see in the morning and one of the last in the afternoon, you'll help create a positive and welcoming experience for students and families while supporting the smooth operation of our school transport service.
As a Home to School Driver, you'll be responsible for safely transporting pupils on designated routes, ensuring journeys run efficiently and in accordance with all transport, safeguarding and health & safety regulations.
You'll also support the day-to-day running of the transport service by maintaining accurate records, completing vehicle checks and helping to ensure our fleet remains compliant and well-maintained.
What you will be doing
- Safely transport pupils to and from school during term time
- Carry out daily vehicle safety checks and complete required documentation
- Follow designated routes and ensure journeys operate efficiently
- Maintain accurate driver, vehicle and journey records
- Report any vehicle defects, hazards or safeguarding concerns promptly
- Support transport administration, route updates and operational planning
- Ensure all pupils, parents and staff receive a courteous and professional service
- Promote the school's values and act as an ambassador for Hendon Preparatory School
- Attend relevant training and comply with all transport and safeguarding requirements
What you will bring
- Aged 21 or over & Full UK driving licence held for at least 24 months
- Current Driver CPC qualification and valid CPC card
- Valid Digital Tachograph Card
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexible approach to working split shifts
- Experience working within transport operations, record keeping or monitoring processes
- A commitment to safety, safeguarding and excellent customer service
