About the department

Our Treatment Suite is a key part of the patient pathway, providing high-quality pre-operative and post-operative care to patients undergoing a wide range of procedures. The department plays a vital role in ensuring patients are safely prepared for treatment and supported throughout their recovery, delivering compassionate, individualised care in a professional and welcoming environment.

Working closely with consultants, anaesthetists, theatre teams, and multidisciplinary colleagues, the service is committed to delivering excellent clinical outcomes, outstanding patient experiences, and the highest standards of safety and governance. Patient wellbeing, clinical excellence, and continuous improvement underpin everything we do.

About the role

As a Registered Nurse within the Treatment Suite, you will play a key role in delivering safe, effective, and patient-centred care throughout the pre-operative and post-operative journey. You will ensure patients receive the highest standards of clinical care, support, and reassurance from admission through to discharge.

Working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, you will undertake patient assessments, monitor patients before and after procedures, administer medications and treatments, and respond appropriately to changes in a patient's condition. You will provide clear information and education, helping patients feel informed and confident throughout their treatment journey.

The role requires excellent clinical judgement, strong communication skills, and a commitment to delivering safe care in line with best practice, professional standards, and organisational policies. Accurate documentation, attention to detail, and adherence to infection prevention and governance requirements are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centred pre-operative and post-operative nursing care

  • Undertake comprehensive patient assessments and document findings accurately

  • Monitor patients before and after procedures, recognising and responding to changes in condition

  • Administer medications, intravenous therapies, and treatments in accordance with policies and professional standards

  • Provide patients and relatives with clear information, education, and support throughout their care pathway

  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records using electronic clinical systems

  • Adhere to infection prevention, safeguarding, and information governance standards

  • Escalate clinical concerns, incidents, or patient safety issues promptly and appropriately

  • Support consultants and multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure effective patient flow and service delivery

  • Participate in audit, quality improvement, and clinical governance activities

  • Maintain clinical competencies and contribute to continuous professional development

  • Work flexibly to support operational and patient care requirements

About you

You are a Registered Nurse with current NMC registration and a strong commitment to delivering safe, effective, and compassionate patient care. You have experience working within a surgical, day-case, outpatient, ward, recovery, or acute clinical environment and are confident assessing and caring for patients throughout their treatment journey.

You communicate clearly and empathetically with patients, relatives, and colleagues, demonstrating professionalism, compassion, and sound clinical judgement at all times. Comfortable using electronic patient record systems, you recognise the importance of accurate documentation, confidentiality, and compliance with clinical and regulatory requirements.

A reliable and proactive team player, you work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing positively to patient outcomes, service quality, and the overall patient experience.
