About Orennia

Orennia provides an all-in-one platform for accurate data, predictive analytics and actionable insights across the energy transition. We drive faster capital allocation decisions and help our clients maximise returns across the solar, wind, storage, power, clean fuels and hydrogen sectors. The technology that powers Orennia’s platform delivers an unparalleled experience, distilling information into actionable insights to give our clients a competitive edge.

Britain is rebuilding its electricity system. The 2021–22 gas price crisis showed how exposed homes and businesses are to volatile global fossil fuel markets, and the government’s Clean Power 2030 Action Plan aims for clean sources to produce at least 95% of Great Britain’s electricity by 2030, backed by an estimated £40 billion of investment a year. Increasingly, the grid sets the pace: connection queues, network build-out and rising constraint and curtailment costs will decide which projects get built and what they earn. Without accurate data and predictive analytics, developers and investors will struggle to deploy capital efficiently and maximise returns. Orennia’s platform gives them robust information for smarter capital allocation choices.

We work as a collaborative team, giving you the opportunity to work across departments, seniority levels, and a range of expert perspectives.

What You’ll Do

  • Contribute to the development of our long-term fundamental power market and price forecasts for the UK using advanced linear programming optimisation models.
  • Primarily focus on our outlook for electricity demand, including data collection and forecasting of load drivers such as electrification, data centres, electric vehicles, hydrogen, and broader changes in consumption patterns.
  • Leverage complex analytical models, including dispatch and market simulation models, to forecast hourly power market prices.
  • Build and maintain large datasets of UK power market information, including generation assets, demand, transmission, interconnection, environmental policy, ownership, and M&A activity.
  • Develop tools and models to streamline the collection, management, and reporting of large datasets and power market modelling results.
  • Work closely with clients to create customised solutions to their most pressing and complex challenges.
  • Participate in conference calls, virtual meetings, and in-person meetings with clients and prospects, helping demonstrate and apply our solutions.

Who You Are

  • 0–3 years of relevant work experience, including internships or placement experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience or a demonstrated interest in renewable energy projects, power markets, and the energy transition.
  • Strong programming, database, and software skills, such as Excel, SQL, Python, VBA, Spotfire, Tableau, or similar tools.
  • Strong analytical ability, including familiarity with statistical methods, linear programming, and optimisation concepts.
  • Experience or familiarity with the UK power market, electricity market modelling, or power market forecasting is a plus.
  • Deep intellectual curiosity and a results-oriented approach to problem-solving, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and navigate ambiguity.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues from different disciplines.
