E911 Network Engineer

Role Summary
This position involves supporting the implementation of a Cisco-based E911 solution at a federal medical facility. The role requires hands-on technical expertise in mapping and documenting existing network switch environments to ensure accurate emergency call routing. It is suitable for network engineers experienced with DoD environments who can work independently in a secure, mission-critical healthcare setting on-site for the duration of the project.

Responsibilities

• Support the deployment of a new Cisco E911 platform at a federal medical facility.
• Audit and document port-level details of existing Brocade and Ruckus switch environments, including port ID, VLAN, physical location, and connected devices.
• Map switch port data to Emergency Response Locations (ERLs) for compliance with E911 requirements.
• Validate switch documentation through physical site walkthroughs to ensure accuracy.
• Collaborate with Cisco engineers and stakeholders to maintain complete and accurate location data.
• Prepare and deliver organized documentation suitable for government and customer submission.
• Assist in troubleshooting switch and network issues related to E911 implementation.
• Maintain security protocols and ensure data integrity throughout the project.
• Contribute to project planning and coordination efforts with technical teams.
• Support ongoing network documentation updates and audits as needed.

Qualifications

• This position requires eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance. In accordance with federal law, U.S. citizenship is required. Active Secret security clearance.
• Current Security+ certification (DoD 8570/8140 compliant).
• Hands-on experience with Brocade and Ruckus ICX switching platforms, including legacy ICX 7000-series and current ICX 8000-series (ICX 8100/8200).
• Proven experience working within DoD, Navy, or federal network environments.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent documentation skills.
• Ability to work on-site full-time at NMCSD.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage technical tasks effectively.
• Knowledge of network infrastructure and emergency response platform integration.
• Familiarity with FIPS-validated Ruckus products and DoDIN-approved switches is a plus.
• Prior experience in military medical treatment facilities is beneficial.

Publishing Pay Range: $55.00 - $60.00 USD Hourly

This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
