Earn More with Shift Differentials

Maximize your earnings with additional hourly pay:

  • +$2/hr -> Monday-Thursday Nights
  • +$3/hr -> Friday-Sunday Nights
  • +$2/hr -> Saturday-Sunday Days

What You'll Do:

 

The Lead Behavioral Health Specialist serves as a working lead who performs core Behavioral Health Specialist responsibilities while providing day-to-day oversight, guidance, and support to on-site Behavioral Health Specialists during assigned shifts. This role partners closely with the Manager, Floor Operations and interdisciplinary team to promote a safe, therapeutic, and efficient unit environment, ensure consistent staff performance, support patient engagement, and reinforce adherence to established clinical, safety, and operational expectations. 

  • Provides leadership of Behavioral Health Specialist(s) for specific shift. 
  • Coaches, leads, and supports Behavioral Health Specialist staff during assigned shifts by providing real-time guidance, reinforcing performance expectations, and modeling effective patient engagement, safety, and milieu management practices.
  • Ensures all Behavioral Health Specialists duties are met per assignment sheet. Completes Behavioral Health Specialists daily assignments at start of assigned shift and audits charts weekly. 
  • Reports any issues to active leadership onsite Managers or Lead CM, or Charge Nurse.  
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to engage, monitor, and communicate with the patients to ensure their behavioral and health needs are being met.   
  • Performs all essential functions of a Behavioral Health Specialist as appropriate.   
  • Provides on-going training and education on safe clinch and seclusion/restraint techniques to employees in real time as needed. Hosts monthly training for employees on safe clinch and seclusion/restraint techniques. 
  • Performs and documents monthly seclusion/restraint drills and debriefs with staff afterwards.   
  • Provides orientation and support on unit expectations and milieu management including advising and aiding patients.  
  • Performs all other duties as assigned  

What You'll Bring:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and:

    • At least 12 semester credit hours in Sociology, Social Welfare, Psychology, Gerontology, or another social science field, and 
    • Two (2) years of experience in public or private human services, including one (1) year of direct mental health care experience OR
    • Three (3) years of direct mental health care experience in public or private human services OR 
    • Consumer or family member with: At least one (1) year of experience as an advocate or leader in a consumer or family advocacy group
  • 3-5 years of behavioral health or related experience
  • Previous BHS or related experience in an inpatient setting AND experience working in an inpatient our outpatient setting with individuals who experience a mental health crisis
  • Previous lead, shift lead, or supervisory experience providing day-to-day guidance, direction, or oversight to staff required
  • Basic computer literacy, including the ability to document an Electronic Health Record (EHR)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) must be obtained within seven days of hire
  • Must be able to perform Safe Clinch patient restraint techniques
  • The Company has a mandatory vaccination policy. All successful applicants must be fully vaccinated, including showing proper documentation, or otherwise be exempt pursuant to the Company’s exemption process prior to their start date as a condition of employment
  • Must pass the following background checks 
    • Child Abuse Clearance 
    • FBI Criminal Background Check 
    • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check 
    • Medical screenings (Physical, TB, and Drug test)

It would be great if you had:

  • Experience in multiservice hospital environment with matrix reporting structures
