Job description

Pact's Contract Manufacturing division manufactures across laundry, household cleaning, car care, pest control, edible oils, air care and pet cleaning categories.

Our uniquely flexible and purpose-built facilities utilise the latest blending, granulating and packaging technologies, allowing us to maintain the fastest project completion times in the industry.

Our extensive and proactive research and development capabilities together with our substantial investment in technology and innovation mean we can provide lower manufacturing costs and get our customer’s products on supermarket shelves faster than our competitors.

About this opportunity

We are seeking a hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to lead the day-to-day maintenance function at our Hornsby site. This is a working supervisor role, responsible for ensuring production equipment, utilities, and site infrastructure are safe, reliable, and operating at peak performance.

You will combine technical expertise with leadership capability, actively participating in fault finding, repairs, preventative maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives while coordinating maintenance priorities across the site. Working closely with Production, Quality, and Operations teams, you will play a key role in maximising equipment reliability, minimising downtime, and supporting site safety and compliance standards.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Lead and coordinate daily maintenance activities to ensure plant equipment, utilities, and facilities operate safely, efficiently, and reliably.
  • Provide hands-on technical support by diagnosing faults, troubleshooting equipment issues, and performing repairs to minimise production downtime.
  • Develop, manage, and continuously improve preventative maintenance programs to maximise equipment performance and reduce unplanned breakdowns.
  • Drive equipment reliability through root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives that improve operational efficiency.
  • Supervise and support maintenance team members and contractors, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and to a high standard.
  • Manage calibration, statutory inspections, and maintenance documentation to ensure compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner closely with Production, Quality, and Operations teams to support manufacturing performance, equipment availability, and site improvement projects.
  • Maintain critical spare parts, workshop resources, and maintenance systems to ensure effective planning, rapid response, and operational continuity.

Your skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

  • A mechanical trade qualification or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Demonstrated experience in a hands-on maintenance role within a manufacturing, FMCG, packaging, chemical, or process manufacturing environment.
  • Strong fault-finding, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capability across production equipment and plant machinery.
  • Experience managing preventative maintenance programs, maintenance scheduling, and work prioritisation.
  • Proven ability to identify recurring equipment issues and implement sustainable corrective actions through root cause analysis.
  • Previous experience leading, mentoring, or supervising maintenance teams and contractors.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across Production, Quality, and Operations teams.
  • A proactive approach to safety, continuous improvement, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience working within GMP, quality-controlled, or highly regulated manufacturing environments will be highly regarded.
