We are looking for an experienced and technically strong Staff Java Developer to join our engineering team in Bangalore. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in Java, Spring, backend application development, and scalable system design. In this role, you will drive technical excellence, architect robust software solutions, and lead the development of high-performance applications that support business-critical operations.

As a Staff Java Developer, you will work closely with engineering leaders, product managers, and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable, reliable, and maintainable technology solutions. You will play a key role in technical decision-making, code quality, architectural improvements, and mentoring engineers across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Backend Development: Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality backend applications using Java and the Spring ecosystem.
• System Architecture: Define and implement scalable, secure, and reliable software architectures that support business growth and evolving product requirements.
• Technical Leadership: Lead complex engineering initiatives, establish coding standards, and drive best practices across development teams.
• Spring Framework Expertise: Build robust applications using Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security, and related Spring technologies.
• Performance Optimization: Identify performance bottlenecks, optimize application efficiency, and improve system reliability and responsiveness.
• Code Quality: Conduct code reviews, promote clean coding practices, and ensure adherence to engineering standards.
• API Development: Design and implement RESTful APIs and integrations with internal and external systems.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with product managers, architects, DevOps engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver business-critical solutions.
• Mentorship: Guide and mentor engineers, share technical knowledge, and encourage continuous learning and improvement.
• Problem-solving: Troubleshoot complex production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions.
• Engineering Excellence: Contribute to technical roadmaps, architectural decisions, system modernization, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Must-have Skills

• Strong proficiency in Java and object-oriented programming principles.
• Extensive hands-on experience with the Spring Framework and Spring Boot.
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, design patterns, and software engineering principles.
• Experience designing scalable, distributed, and high-performance backend systems.
• Proficiency in REST API development, microservices architecture, and application integration.
• Knowledge of database design, SQL, and performance optimization.
• Experience with unit testing, integration testing, debugging, and code review practices.
• Strong understanding of concurrency, multithreading, exception handling, and JVM fundamentals.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and technical leadership skills.

Good-to-have Skills

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Kafka or other event-driven messaging systems.
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases, caching solutions, and observability tools.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 10–12 years of relevant software development experience, with substantial hands-on expertise in Java and Spring.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives and influence engineering decisions.

Compensation

The budget for this position is up to ₹80 LPA, depending on the candidate's experience, technical expertise, and overall fit.
