Business Analyst

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to support a complex ICT project involving application development, systems integration and business process improvement. In this role, you will work closely with business stakeholders, software developers, Solution Architects and technical specialists to gather and translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements. You will play a key role in analysing existing processes, defining future-state solutions and supporting the integration of multiple applications and enterprise systems. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive Business Analyst with strong requirements management and stakeholder engagement skills to contribute to the successful delivery of technology solutions within a complex, multidisciplinary environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and undertake business analysis activities, including stakeholder engagement, requirements elicitation, analysis, documentation and validation.
• Develop and maintain business requirements specifications, functional requirements and business rules.
• Analyse current-state business processes, identify gaps and recommend optimised future-state processes.
• Collaborate with developers, Solution Architects and technical specialists to ensure business requirements are translated into effective functional solutions.
• Gather and document requirements for integrations between applications, asset management systems and other connected platforms.
• Support the development of functional interface specifications, data mapping requirements and system dependencies.
• Maintain requirements traceability, prioritisation and change management throughout the project lifecycle.
• Engage with business stakeholders, application owners, external implementation partners and government agencies.
• Support application development, testing, defect resolution and user acceptance testing activities.
• Identify and proactively manage requirements-related risks, issues and dependencies.
• Facilitate clear communication between business and technical teams to maintain alignment on project deliverables.

Highly desirable criteria

• Experience with systems integration, APIs, data flows and interface requirements.
• Exposure to MuleSoft or similar integration technologies.
• Familiarity with AWS cloud environments, Amazon Redshift or data analytics platforms.
• Experience working with commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products and custom-built applications.
• Understanding of software development processes and programming concepts.
• Experience working within government or regulated environments, such as transport, banking, justice or law enforcement.
• Experience with asset management, operational scheduling or evidence management systems.

Desirable criteria

• Experience supporting complex application development and systems implementation projects.
• Familiarity with multidisciplinary delivery teams and contemporary software development methodologies.
• Experience collaborating with external implementation partners and multiple stakeholder groups.
• Understanding of enterprise application environments and cross-system dependencies.

Skills and experience

• Demonstrated experience as a Business Analyst on complex ICT projects, preferably involving application development or systems implementation.
• Strong experience gathering, analysing, documenting and validating business and functional requirements.
• Proven ability to undertake business process mapping, current-state and future-state analysis, and requirements traceability.
• Experience working on projects involving multiple integrated applications or enterprise systems.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with software developers, Solution Architects and other technical stakeholders.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, written and verbal communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working within Agile or multidisciplinary project delivery teams.
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
