Senior Staff Engineer - Remote

Aptask Global Workforce (AGW) is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer for a Remote position with a Global Technology Solutions Provider. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.

As a Senior Staff Engineer on the Cloud Infrastructure Compute team, you will be the technical leader for the lifecycle management of our Kubernetes compute platform. This platform is the foundation for all features delivered in security, networking, developer experience, and efficiency, ensuring consistency across multiple cloud vendors. You will enable the Cloud Infrastructure organization to work efficiently by enhancing all aspects of the engineering experience.

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership on high-impact projects
• Influence and coach a distributed team of engineers
• Deliver enhancements that drive the cost efficiency of our cloud platform
• Facilitate alignment and clarity across teams on goals, outcomes, and timelines
• Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
• Contribute to the multi-year strategy to evolve the Cloud Platform
• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance the compute platform

Requirements:

• BS, MS or Ph.D. in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience
• 12+ years of relevant work experience in infrastructure
• 4+ years of expertise with a public cloud provider (AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure) and their infrastructure as a service offering (e.g. EC2)
• Experience setting technical direction, planning, and successfully executing on large projects spanning multiple teams
• Strong proficiency and preference for Go (Golang)
• Advanced Kubernetes expertise, specifically hands-on experience writing Kubernetes controllers and building/working with admission webhooks
• Passionate about efficiency, availability, quality and developer experience

Desired skills:

• Istio/Envoy Experience is preferred

Pay range: up to $78.57 per hour
