Job Description

Title: QA Tester
Location: Remote LATAM
Duration: 12+ month contract
Compensation: Competitive, based on experience
Work Requirements: Citizen of the country of employment or authorized to work in that country.
QA Tester

Responsibilities

  • Analyze user stories, requirements, and design changes for the assigned product area; identify test scenarios, edge cases, and risks before development is complete.
  • Design, document, and maintain functional test cases and regression suites in Azure DevOps Test Plans.
  • Execute functional, regression, integration, and exploratory testing across desktop, web/Flutter, and API layers.
  • Validate below the UI: build and seed test data with SQL, verify calculations, records, and reports, and confirm batch and integration processes produce correct results.
  • Log clear, reproducible defects in Azure DevOps; work with developers to triage, retest, and close them; separate application defects from test-data and environment issues.
  • Build and maintain Playwright + TypeScript automation for the assigned area: new UI and API tests, page objects and fixtures within the team framework, and data-level assertions that verify results below the UI.
  • Run the automated regression suites each release, diagnose failures with traces and CI artifacts rather than retries or sleeps, and keep the suites for the area fast and reliable.
  • Maintain automation code in GitHub with disciplined branching and pull-request review; ensure new tests run in CI/CD.
  • Use Claude with Playwright MCP to accelerate test design and script generation, reviewing and correcting generated output so every test is robust and able to fail when it should.
  • Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives; estimate test effort and raise risks early.
  • Report test status, coverage, and open risks to the QA Lead in support of release readiness.

Required qualifications

  • 3+ years in software quality assurance on enterprise business applications, with hands-on functional and regression testing responsibility.
  • 2+ years building test automation, with hands-on Playwright and TypeScript/JavaScript — able to write new tests, work within an existing framework (page objects, fixtures, API tests), and debug failures; strong Cypress or Selenium/TypeScript experience acceptable with a clear willingness to move to Playwright.
  • Practical SQL and API testing skills, with experience validating data correctness in data-intensive applications.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps or Jira for test management and defect tracking; basic Git/GitHub workflow (branching, pull requests).
  • Experience using AI-assisted tools (Claude, Copilot, or similar) to generate or maintain automation, and the judgment to review rather than trust generated output.
  • Clear written and spoken English — test cases, defects, and status updates are read by a US-based product and development team.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

  • Domain experience in oil and gas or energy software — accounting/ERP, land and lease management, production and field data capture, transportation and logistics, or well lifecycle management — or in other financial or operations systems of record.
  • Tricentis Tosca exposure.
  • Experience testing Delphi/legacy desktop applications or Flutter front ends.
  • ISTQB Foundation (CTFL) certification.
