Quick Overview
Job Description
Microsoft Fabric Data Architect
Northville, MI — Onsite
Fulltime
Job Summary: We are looking for a hands-on Microsoft Fabric Data Architect to lead the design and delivery of modern enterprise data and analytics solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Microsoft Fabric architecture, implementation, optimization, and migration, along with a solid background in data engineering, data warehousing, analytics, and Power BI. This senior technical leadership role requires someone who can architect solutions, stay hands-on during implementation, lead technical teams, participate in customer-facing pre-sales discussions, and mentor/upskill other engineers.
Key Responsibilities & Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, including environment/tenant setup, architecture, capacity planning, security, governance, performance optimization, and best practices.
- Design and implement solutions using OneLake, Lakehouse, Fabric Warehouse, Data Factory/Pipelines, Notebooks, Spark, SQL, and Power BI.
- Lead legacy data platform migrations to Microsoft Fabric, including assessment, architecture, migration strategy, data transformation, validation, performance tuning, and modernization.
- Strong expertise in data architecture, dimensional/data modeling, data warehousing, ETL/ELT, SQL, data engineering, medallion architecture, and modern analytics platforms.
- Architect scalable end-to-end solutions covering data ingestion → transformation → storage → semantic models → reporting/analytics.
- Strong Power BI experience, including semantic models, Direct Lake, performance optimization, governance, security/RLS, and enterprise reporting.
- Serve as a technical lead, providing architecture guidance, conducting design/code reviews, establishing engineering standards, and leading onshore/offshore delivery teams.
- Participate in pre-sales and customer discussions—understand requirements, define solution architecture, conduct technical presentations/demos, estimate implementation efforts, and showcase Microsoft Fabric capabilities.
- Mentor and upskill junior and mid-level engineers on Fabric, data engineering, architecture patterns, and development best practices.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work directly with business stakeholders, technical teams, and senior customer leadership.
Nice to Have: Previous experience with Informatica or similar enterprise ETL platforms, particularly migration/modernization projects. Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, SSIS, SSRS, ADLS, Databricks, and other Azure data services is a strong plus.
Must Have: This is a hands-on architect role, not a purely advisory/management position. The candidate must be comfortable designing the architecture as well as working directly with SQL, notebooks, pipelines, data models, Fabric workloads, and troubleshooting implementation issues. Onsite presence at our Northville, Michigan office is required.
