Data Analyst / BI Developer

Project Overview

The client is seeking a mid-level Data Analyst / BI Developer to join a small, dynamic team supporting . The team provides strategic expertise through Business Intelligence (BI) and data visualization platforms to deliver quality reports for State and Federal agencies.

The role focuses on data analysis, BI development, reporting, data visualization, data modeling, and supporting data exchange and integration needs.

Experience Requirement: Candidates must have 2–4 years of experience. No more than 5 years of experience will be accepted.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Perform data analysis to identify patterns, data anomalies, and business insights.
• Work closely with functional teams to understand requirements and ensure data quality.
• Collaborate on the definition, development, and maintenance of data standards and processes.
• Develop data models and templates to support timely and accurate deliverables, data integrity, efficient workflows, reusability, and automation.
• Create dashboards using Workspace Advanced to support drill-up/down and slicing/dicing of data.
• Produce ad hoc reports based on business requirements and turnaround times.
• Support continuous improvement and automation of BI solutions and processes.
• Support client data exchange and integration requirements using database applications, ETL processes, and automation.
• Apply knowledge of upstream and downstream enterprise applications throughout the dashboard development lifecycle.
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications for reports and dashboards.
• Develop and maintain reports using IBM Cognos Analytics.
• Work with relational, dimensional, and transactional databases.
• Apply data architecture and data analysis skills to support application and reporting requirements.
• Provide documentation to support technical and user needs.
• Work effectively within a complex matrix organization.

 

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 2–4 years of related industry experience; no more than 5 years will be accepted.
• Approximately 3 years of industry experience focused on SQL, PL/SQL, or SQL-PL in a DB2 environment.
• Approximately 3 years of experience with a BI tool; Cognos is preferred.
• Approximately 2 years of experience in data modeling/design for Data Mart or Data Warehouse environments.
• Experience writing complex SQL queries and SQL-PL procedures in an IBM DB2 environment.
• Experience with IBM Cognos Analytics 12.1.0 or higher.
• Experience authoring and maintaining reports using IBM Cognos Analytics 12.1.0 or higher against relational, dimensional, and transactional databases.
• Experience with Core Java.
• Experience with database architecture, including relational, star, and snowflake schemas.
• Experience with DB2 or other relational database management systems (RDBMS).
• Experience with UNIX/Linux operating systems.
• Knowledge of RTC/ELM or similar tools.
• Healthcare industry experience is preferred.
