Alteryx Platform / Infrastructure Engineer

Day-to-Day Job Duties

• Support the setup, deployment, configuration, and operational readiness of the Alteryx platform across enterprise environments.
• Work with infrastructure teams to coordinate the provisioning and build of servers required for Alteryx deployments, including submitting and tracking appropriate ServiceNow requests.
• Prepare and maintain configuration workbooks, Excel-based infrastructure specifications, and other required documentation containing the appropriate server, environment, network, security, and application configuration details.
• Coordinate installation and configuration of Alteryx Server and related software components on provisioned infrastructure.
• Validate server prerequisites and ensure environments are prepared according to required enterprise architecture and platform standards.
• Work closely with Networking, Infrastructure, Information Security, Database, and Application teams to ensure connectivity and security requirements are appropriately addressed.
• Understand and communicate networking requirements including:
  • Server connectivity
  • Firewall requirements
  • Ports and protocols
  • DNS
  • Load balancing
  • Network segmentation
  • Environment-to-environment connectivity
• Coordinate security requirements associated with the Alteryx platform, including authentication, authorization, service accounts, access controls, certificates, and enterprise security standards.
• Support the creation and maintenance of appropriate Alteryx environment configurations across development, testing, and production environments.
• Review proposed infrastructure and configuration specifications to confirm that the appropriate servers, software, connectivity, security, and dependent services have been requested.
• Work with shared database and infrastructure teams to review and validate SQL Server configuration and connectivity requirements supporting Alteryx workloads.
• As the platform evolves, support validation of shared SQL Server settings and configuration, ensuring environments and enclaves are connected according to the appropriate enterprise Tier and security architecture.
• Coordinate with database teams to ensure required SQL Server instances, connectivity, service accounts, access permissions, and configuration standards are established.
• Troubleshoot Alteryx platform setup, connectivity, server, database, configuration, and environmental issues in partnership with appropriate technical teams.
• Maintain platform configuration documentation, deployment procedures, environment inventories, installation instructions, and operational runbooks.
• Participate in platform upgrades, patches, configuration changes, infrastructure changes, and environment-validation activities.
• Work with application and business teams to understand platform requirements and translate them into appropriate infrastructure and technical requests.
• Ensure platform implementation activities comply with enterprise infrastructure, networking, security, database, and change-management standards.

Basic Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of overall experience in application infrastructure, platform engineering, middleware administration, systems engineering, application support, or related enterprise technology roles.
• Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience with Alteryx, including Alteryx Server setup, configuration, administration, deployment, or enterprise platform support.
• Minimum 3+ years of experience supporting Windows-based enterprise server environments, including software installation, configuration, validation, and operational support.
• Minimum 3+ years of experience working with infrastructure provisioning and server deployment processes, including coordinating server builds through enterprise request-management processes.
• Minimum 2+ years of experience working with enterprise networking concepts, including firewall rules, ports, protocols, DNS, connectivity, load balancing, and network segmentation.
• Minimum 2+ years of experience working with enterprise security requirements, including authentication, authorization, service accounts, access management, certificates, and security controls.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, including database connectivity, server configuration, authentication, permissions, and application integration.
• Experience coordinating technical activities across Infrastructure, Networking, Security, Database, Application, and Operations teams.
• Experience working with ServiceNow or similar IT service-management platforms for server requests, infrastructure provisioning, change requests, and operational workflows.
• Ability to create and maintain accurate technical configuration documents and Excel-based infrastructure/configuration workbooks.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to analyze platform, infrastructure, network, security, and database dependencies.
• Strong communication and coordination skills with the ability to translate application/platform requirements into actionable infrastructure requests.
• Strong attention to detail when managing environment-specific configurations, server specifications, security requirements, and deployment dependencies.

Travel

Travel as required based on project and client needs. Minneapolis Hub is the preferred work location.

Degree

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional work experience.

Nice to Have (But Not a Must)

• 2+ years of administration experience with Business Intelligence or analytics platforms such as Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, Cognos, MicroStrategy, or similar enterprise BI technologies.
• Alteryx Server administration experience covering:
  • Gallery
  • Controller
  • Worker nodes
  • Scheduler
  • Authentication
  • Permissions
  • Workflows
  • Environment configuration
• Experience supporting high-availability or multi-node Alteryx Server environments.
• Experience with enterprise SQL Server administration or database-platform coordination.
• Understanding of enterprise network enclaves, security tiers, segmentation, and controlled cross-environment connectivity.
• Experience supporting applications within highly controlled or regulated enterprise environments.
• Experience with infrastructure and operational tools used for:
  • Monitoring
  • Logging
  • Incident management
  • Change management
  • Configuration management
• Experience supporting platform upgrades, patching, disaster recovery, capacity planning, and production-readiness activities.
• Prior experience administering or supporting multiple enterprise BI / Analytics platforms in addition to Alteryx.
