Job Description

Regional Sales Director

This role can be based out of Astoria, NY, Baltimore, MD, Norristown, PA, or Somerset, NJ

Triumvirate Environmental, one of the largest environmental services firms in North America, is seeking a Regional Sales Director to lead our Business Development team, covering New York City, Upstate New York, New Jersey, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.

This is a role for a leader who is genuinely goal driven and delivers results, someone who carries an individual sales quota, actively sells alongside their team, and holds themselves to a high standard of self-accountability while also holding their team accountable to the same bar. The ideal candidate leads with action orientation and directive presence, bringing emotional independence and optimism and resiliency to a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environment. They read people and situations well, assessing the situation quickly, and adjust their approach with strategic agility to keep the region moving forward.

Triumvirate Environmental provides leading organizations in the higher education, life sciences, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing sectors with diverse services and expertise to assist them with compliance management. At Triumvirate Environmental, we strive to WOW both our employees and our customers. Our unique culture fosters growth, development, education, and creativity.

This position reports to our Vice President of Operations.

Sales Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop regional sales team members, drawing on strong coaching effectiveness to strengthen sales effectiveness, improve customer retention, and accelerate new business growth.
  • Provide ongoing guidance on sales prospecting, qualifying opportunities, opportunity management, cross-selling, negotiation, and account expansion strategies.
  • Deliver consistent training on sales process execution, CRM utilization, proposal development, time management, and professional communication.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and implement performance improvement plans when needed — holding others accountable with fairness and consistency.
  • Partner with the Regional General Manager’s on recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and developing top sales talent.
  • Foster a high-performance culture built on accountability, collaboration, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
  • Motivate and inspire the team while serving as a role model for professionalism, leadership, and customer engagement.

Revenue Growth & Customer Management

  • Carry an individual sales quota and actively prospect, develop opportunities, and close new business while leading the regional sales team.
  • Cultivate strategic partnerships through industry networking, professional associations, trade shows, and enterprise-level relationships across the Northeast market, managing and leveraging relationships at every level.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of customer needs, industry trends, and competitive dynamics across NYC, Upstate NY, NJ, MD, and PA.
  • Represent the company at industry events, customer meetings, and executive-level engagements to strengthen brand presence and reputation.
  • Drive regional revenue growth through new business development, strategic account management, and expansion of existing customer relationships — consistently goal driven in pursuit of results.
  • Support the team in identifying and prioritizing high-value opportunities within the region.
  • Collaborate with sales team members during customer meetings and strategic account visits to uncover additional service opportunities.
  • Provide guidance on pricing strategy, scope development, contract terms, and overall deal structure.
  • Assist with proposal review and approval to ensure alignment with company standards and profitability goals.
  • Support Account Managers in maintaining financially healthy customer relationships, including timely collections.
  • Ensure all sales terms, conditions, and operational requirements are satisfied prior to closing business.
  • Performance Management & Operational Excellence
  • Utilize CRM and reporting tools to monitor pipeline activity, forecast accuracy, and overall sales performance against KPIs and OKRs.
  • Hold team members accountable to established goals, expectations, and sales activity standards.
  • Lead quarterly commission reviews and approvals.
  • Present regional sales performance, trends, and business insights to General Managers and executive leadership on a regular basis — with the directive presence to command the room.
  • Partner with Marketing to develop strategies for customer engagement, retention, and regional growth initiatives.
  • Support the rollout and adoption of new products, services, and sales initiatives across the region, adapting plans with strategic agility as conditions change.

Safety & Culture

  • Champion a safety-first culture, ensuring all customer-facing and field activities align with company safety standards and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Build strong relationships internally and externally, consistently delivering a high level of professionalism and service.
  • Represent the organization positively with clients, prospects, and colleagues at all levels of the business.
  • Travel as needed across the NYC, Upstate NY, NJ, MD, and PA territory to support customer relationships, team development, and regional business objectives, staying resilient and optimistic even when the schedule gets demanding.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Environmental Science, or a related field required.
  • 10+ years of sales, account management, or business development experience with progressive leadership responsibilities.
  • Proven experience managing, coaching, and developing high-performing sales teams.
  • Strong understanding of consultative selling principles, prospecting strategies, account retention, and customer relationship management.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive accountability and performance through metrics, coaching, and process management.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and time management abilities with attention to detail.
  • Experience with CRM platforms and sales reporting tools; familiarity with Oracle CX, Salesforce, or similar systems preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% of the time within the NYC, Upstate NY, NJ, MD, and PA territory, including regional travel by car and air.
