What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Strong enterprise design system expertise, including the ability to build and implement a design system from scratch
  • Excellent technical communication skills
  • Strong understanding of Accessibility, WCAG, and Section 508
  • Experience developing scalable, reusable, and accessible UI components

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior UI/UX Developer/Architect with extensive experience building and maintaining enterprise design systems, deep expertise in WCAG accessibility standards, and excellent communication skills.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of creating and implementing design systems from scratch while collaborating across teams to ensure accessibility, usability, consistency, and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, document, and maintain scalable enterprise design systems and reusable component libraries.
  • Work with the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS) or similar enterprise design systems.
  • Develop accessible wrapper components using HTML, SASS, and Angular.
  • Ensure UI components and patterns meet WCAG 2.1/AAA accessibility requirements.
  • Implement semantic HTML and appropriate ARIA roles.
  • Perform accessibility testing and participate in accessibility audits.
  • Use Storybook for component development, documentation, and collaboration.
  • Partner with development teams to establish accessibility and design system best practices.
  • Provide UX and accessibility support across enterprise applications.
  • Participate in code reviews, UX discussions, and accessibility reviews.
  • Mentor and guide developers on accessible component development and design system standards.
  • Develop reusable, scalable, and maintainable front-end assets.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional front-end development experience
  • Proven experience setting up and integrating enterprise design systems
  • Experience developing high-level wrapper components and reusable component libraries
  • Strong expertise in WCAG 2.1/AAA
  • Strong understanding of ARIA roles, semantic HTML, and accessibility testing tools
  • Proficiency in:
    • HTML
    • SASS
    • Angular
  • Experience with Storybook for component development and documentation
  • Strong understanding of UX principles and accessible UI design
  • Experience with USWDS or other enterprise-level design systems
  • Excellent technical and cross-functional communication skills

Highly Desired Skills

  • Experience with .NET, MVC, and SQL
  • Understanding of backend considerations within a .NET environment
  • Experience integrating front-end applications with backend systems
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with development and technical teams

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is an accessibility-focused UI/UX expert with strong enterprise design system experience who can work collaboratively across teams.

They should be comfortable leading discussions, mentoring developers, creating reusable components, and ensuring front-end applications meet accessibility and usability standards.
