Accessibility Remediation Technician

JOB SUMMARY

The Accessibility Remediation Technician will support an agency-wide initiative to remediate accessibility issues in PDFs, Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, and other digital content. The role requires strong computer skills, attention to detail, and the ability to learn and follow technical procedures and accessibility standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review and remediate accessibility issues in PDF and electronic documents.

• Use Equidox PDF Remediation Software, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and accessibility-checking tools.

• Correct document tags, headings, lists, tables, reading order, links, images/alt text, and document properties.

• Perform automated and manual accessibility/quality checks.

• Maintain accurate records of document status, remediation activities, and issues.

• Coordinate with webmasters/content owners to publish accessible documents.

• Escalate complex accessibility issues to the project supervisor.

• Process high volumes of documents while maintaining accuracy and productivity.

• Follow established accessibility, file-management, and quality procedures.

• Protect confidential and sensitive information.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• General IT and computer proficiency.

• Experience with Equidox and Adobe Acrobat Pro.

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Ability to learn new software and follow technical procedures.

• Experience with document processing, data entry, records management, or QA.

• Familiarity with digital accessibility, WCAG, Section 508, PDF/UA, or assistive technologies.

• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with supervisors.
