Job Description

Imperial College London Graduate Software Engineer
Imperial College London Graduates Only | AI Scale-Up | £70,000 Starting Salary | Central London
The opportunity to build, learn and make an impact from day one.
Are you an exceptional Imperial College London graduate with a passion for software engineering and a desire to work at the forefront of AI?
We're working with an ambitious, fast-growing AI scale-up looking for a bright, driven Graduate Software Engineer to join its team in Central London.
This is an opportunity to join a high-calibre, intellectually curious team where the learning curve is steep, the problems are challenging, and your contribution will matter from the outset.
With a £70,000 starting salary, you'll be joining a business that values raw intellectual horsepower, technical curiosity and the ability to learn quickly just as much as what you already know.
They're not looking for someone who simply ticks every box. They're looking for someone with the potential to become exceptional.
What you'll be doing
You'll work alongside talented engineers and ambitious thinkers to develop software that powers an innovative AI business.
Your role will involve:
  • Building and improving software across the stack, from backend services to user-facing applications.
  • Working with technologies including Python, React, TypeScript, JavaScript and SQL.
  • Tackling challenging technical problems and turning ideas into practical, scalable solutions.
  • Learning new technologies, frameworks and concepts at pace.
  • Collaborating closely with the wider team, contributing ideas and helping shape the product as the business grows.
  • Taking ownership of projects and seeing your work make a tangible difference.

You'll be given the opportunity to stretch yourself, develop your engineering skills and take on meaningful responsibility early in your career.
Who we're looking for
Intellectual curiosity, learning agility and cultural fit are essential.
You'll be an Imperial College London graduate with a strong academic foundation, genuine enthusiasm for software engineering and the ambition to achieve something special.
We're particularly interested in people who can demonstrate:
  • Strong technical foundations: Experience with Python, React, TypeScript, JavaScript and SQL is valuable. You don't need to be an expert in every technology, but you should be comfortable with programming fundamentals and eager to expand your skill set.
  • Outstanding internships or practical experience: Relevant software engineering internships, placements or substantial technical projects that demonstrate your ability to apply what you've learned in a real-world environment will be a significant advantage.
  • Exceptional learning agility: You're a quick learner who can absorb complex information, connect ideas and get up to speed with unfamiliar technologies without needing everything spelled out.
  • Intellectual curiosity: You enjoy solving difficult problems, asking thoughtful questions and understanding how things work beneath the surface.
  • Ambition and drive: You set high standards for yourself, take initiative and want to become an outstanding engineer.
  • A collaborative mindset: You're confident contributing ideas, receptive to feedback and excited to work alongside talented people who challenge you to think differently.

Above all, we're looking for someone who is a sponge for knowledge: someone who listens, learns, adapts and turns new information into action.
You don't need to know everything on day one. You do need to have the ability and appetite to learn exceptionally quickly.
The culture
This is a team for people who enjoy being intellectually challenged and working with others who share their ambition.
You'll be surrounded by smart, motivated colleagues who care about the quality of their work, value open collaboration and want to build something meaningful.
Personality matters. The ideal candidate is bright without being arrogant, ambitious without being individualistic, and confident enough to contribute while humble enough to keep learning.
The best person for this role isn't necessarily the one who knows the most today. It's the one who has the potential to learn the most tomorrow. What's on offer?£70,000 starting salary. The opportunity to join an ambitious AI scale-up at an exciting stage of its growth.Hands-on experience with modern software engineering technologies and AI-driven products. The chance to learn directly from a high-calibre team.Early responsibility, meaningful technical challenges and genuine opportunities to develop.A collaborative environment where curiosity, initiative and fresh thinking are encouraged.Central London location, with three days per week in the office.
