Job Title: Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer

Location: Magna Park, Milton Keynes

Salary: £55,987 (Basic + Shift Allowance)

Shift Pattern:

  • 5 on (3 days, 2 nights) / 5 off
  • 4 on (2 days, 2 nights) / 5 off
  • 5 on (2 days, 3 nights) / 4 off
    Hours: 40 per week
Job Role of the Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer

A rare opportunity has become available for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a highly automated, state-of-the-art distribution site. This modern facility offers exposure to cutting-edge automation and advanced engineering systems, making it an excellent opportunity for engineers looking to develop their technical skills in a fast-paced environment.

You will be working as part of a large engineering team, reporting to the Lead Engineer and Shift Supervisor. The role is predominantly focused on planned preventative maintenance (approx. 98%), alongside reactive maintenance across a range of automated machinery.

Site & Equipment

This is a fully automated, clean working environment with a large-scale operation, including:

  • Shuttle systems
  • Conveyor systems
  • Automated handling cranes (up to 40m high)
  • Hanging garment systems

No two days are the same, with a wide variety of machinery and technical challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
  • Respond to and resolve breakdowns efficiently
  • Fault finding on mechanical and electrical systems
  • Ensure production targets are consistently achieved
  • Maintain and repair automated machinery
  • Follow and enforce safe working procedures
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Accurately document and report faults
  • Collaborate with engineering and operational teams
Common Fault Finding Areas

Mechanical:

  • Bearings, belts, rollers
  • Gearboxes, motors
  • Pneumatics & hydraulics

Electrical:

  • Sensors and motors
  • Basic component recognition
  • PLC knowledge (advantageous)
Non-Negotiable Requirements
  • Level 3 Engineering Qualification (Mechanical or Electrical)
  • Experience within a manufacturing, distribution, or automated environment
Desirable Requirements
  • Multi-skilled capability (Mechanical or Electrical bias – approx. 80/20 split)
  • PLC fault-finding experience
  • Distribution or logistics background
  • Ex-forces engineers encouraged to apply
