  • Assessing applications, dependencies, and interfaces to identify and mitigate migration risks.
  • Performing root-cause analysis and troubleshooting production issues, ensuring robust and reliable deployments.
  • Designing, developing, deploying, and integrating REST APIs, with an emphasis on scalable, maintainable solutions.
  • Managing Maven build processes, including parent POMs, BOMs, sophisticated dependency management, and plugin configuration.
  • Applying vulnerability and risk reduction measures by upgrading software libraries, migrating platforms, and updating frameworks.
  • Utilizing AI tools to streamline daily responsibilities, and developing custom AI-driven skills as required.
  • Participating in daily standups to share progress, clarify priorities, and proactively resolve obstacles.
  • Engaging in performance testing and tuning to ensure high-availability and optimal efficiency of critical applications.
  • Providing mentoring and facilitating effective knowledge-sharing across cross-functional teams.
  • Championing quality, maintainability, and automated testability throughout the software development lifecycle.

Essential Skills, Experience

This position requires demonstrated experience and skills in the following areas:

  • Expert-level programming with Java and Jakarta EE (Java Enterprise Edition).
  • Deep experience with Spring and Spring Boot for modernizing legacy applications.
  • Advanced MVC and build tool proficiency, specifically with Maven (including parent POMs, BOMs, dependency management, and plugin configuration).
  • REST API development and integration expertise.
  • Advanced troubleshooting abilities for both software and infrastructure issues, particularly in production environments.
  • Experience with vulnerability and risk remediation including dependency updates, framework upgrades, and cloud platform migrations (notably to Amazon EKS).
  • Proven use of AI tools to optimize and automate software engineering tasks, including the development of custom AI capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and mentorship skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams.
  • Solid critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills applied to daily responsibilities.

Preferred candidates may also possess:

  • Hands-on experience deploying and managing applications on Kubernetes infrastructure.
  • Direct JBoss and WildFly administration, configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting expertise.
  • Strong understanding of resolving JBoss-to-WildFly compatibility concerns during migration projects.
  • Commitment to code quality, maintainable architecture, and adherence to S.O.L.I.D. design principles.
  • Passion for process automation and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 5+ years of professional experience in enterprise-level software development and engineering roles.
