Job description

Qumulo's cloud data platform manages exabytes of the world's most demanding data, unifying files, objects, and every workload across edge, core, and cloud.

About the Team

Qumulo’s Sales team is made up of pioneers, technology evangelists and problem solvers. Bolstered by robust experience in the Data Storage industry, our team of Sales Professionals and Presales Solutions Architects lead our product into new markets and enable us to delight a growing customer base with our innovative data platform solutions.

About the Position

As a Presales Solutions Architect, you will serve as the technical authority in our field sales organization, partnering directly with Account Executives to win enterprise deals across the Pacific Northwest. You will translate complex on-premise datacenter, hybrid-cloud, and unstructured data challenges into scalable file and object architectures that solve mission-critical customer problems.

Equal parts technologist and strategic advisor, you possess the technical depth to deliver hands-on proofs-of-concept alongside engineering teams, and the business acumen to communicate value to C-level executives. You are naturally curious, thrive in high-velocity competitive environments, and take pride in guiding customers from initial discovery to production success.

What you will do as a Presales Solutions Architect at Qumulo

  • Technical Solution Design: Lead architectural discovery and translation of complex data challenges into scalable file, object, and hybrid-cloud storage solutions, delivering both high-level design strategies and hands-on technical validation.

  • Sales Campaign Partnership: Partner closely with enterprise account executives to steer deal strategy, build compelling technical proposals, and drive customer evaluations, proofs-of-concept, and winning competitive displacements.

  • Trusted Advisor & Evangelism: Cultivate long-term technical relationships with key customer stakeholders (CIOs, VPs of Engineering, and storage leads), demystifying hybrid cloud architectures and guiding customers smoothly from proof-of-concept to production.

  • Travel up to 50% across the PNW United States.

What you have accomplished in your career

  • 5+ years in enterprise presales engineering, with a proven track record supporting complex sales cycles across cloud, distributed systems, or large-scale data platforms.

  • Deep technical foundation in hybrid cloud architectures, unstructured data, and modern storage environments (spanning edge, core, and cloud models).

  • Familiarity with distributed file, object, or cloud storage ecosystems, with ideal backgrounds including modern data platforms, hyperscale cloud storage services (e.g., AWS S3), or enterprise infrastructure vendors (such as NetApp, Dell/PowerScale, Pure Storage, VAST, or Weka).

  • Strong fluency in modern networking and protocols, including SMB, NFS, and S3, alongside solid command-line operational experience in Linux/Unix or Windows environments.

  • Exceptional consultative and technical storytelling skills, with demonstrated success leading whiteboarding sessions, technical discovery, hands-on demonstrations, and competitive proofs-of-concept for technical and executive audiences.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical enterprise experience), with relevant cloud or infrastructure certifications preferred.

This position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship. Due to customer and contractual requirements, candidates must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents.

The annual On-Target Earnings (OTE) for this role is $250,000 - $300,000 with uncapped commission and lucrative accelerator opportunities. Individual pay depends on various factors, such as role level, relevant experience and skills.

Benefits & Perks:

  • Pre-IPO stock options

  • Flexible time-off policy

  • HSA and PPO health insurance options

  • Dental and Vision insurance

  • 401(k) plan

  • Choice of an ORCA card or parking subsidy
