Job Description

H&H is offering an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Designer to join our Newark, DE office. The successful candidate will support the design and inspection of movable bridges and tunnels through a combination of office and field work.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical design and inspection tasks for movable bridges and tunnels.
  • Prepare contract plans, special provisions, engineer’s estimates, calculations, inspection reports, and technical memoranda.
  • Research design options and document findings and recommendations for project managers.
  • Develop mechanical designs using MicroStation or AutoCAD.
  • Develop machine design calculations for power transmission components.
  • Perform a combination of office and field work in support of project assignments.
  • Assist with the development and documentation of mechanical design solutions for movable bridge and tunnel systems.
  • Support field inspections and document existing conditions and inspection findings.
  • Coordinate design information and technical findings with project managers and other members of the project team.
  • Assist with technical documentation, calculations, drawings, and project deliverables throughout the design process.
  • Apply sound engineering judgment when evaluating design alternatives and developing practical solutions.
  • Support project teams with research, technical analysis, and preparation of project documentation.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Willingness to travel for short-term assignments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with MicroStation and AutoCAD computer-aided design and drafting software preferred.
  • Experience with Mathcad computational software preferred.
  • Hands-on mechanical experience preferred.
