Senior Software Engineer - Node.js / TypeScript / Azure Location: Remote (Northern Ireland wide) Salary: £50,000 - £80,000 (depending on experience) Benefits: 8% pension, remote & flexible working Contract Type: Permanent The Opportunity We're partnering with a local, award-winning software company that designs and delivers bespoke digital solutions for major clients across multiple industries. They are now seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join their high-performing team, working on large-scale, cloud-based applications that drive real business impact. You'll be a key contributor in shaping backend systems and APIs, ensuring they are scalable, reliable, and performant, while collaborating with talented engineers, designers, and product teams. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Node.js and TypeScript. Work with Azure cloud services to deliver scalable, cloud-native applications. Take ownership of key systems and projects from design through to deployment. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions for clients. Break down complex requirements into clear, prioritised tasks. Ensure system reliability, scalability, and maintainability through best practices. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence. Essential Skills & Experience Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript with Node.js on the server side. Proven track record delivering production-grade, maintainable software. Solid understanding of system architecture and cloud-native design. Hands-on experience with Azure cloud services (e.g., App Services, Functions, Cosmos DB, Kubernetes). Strong problem-solving and communication skills. Knowledge of databases (SQL/NoSQL). Experience writing unit, integration, and functional tests. Collaborative, team-oriented mindset with the ability to mentor others. Desirable Skills Experience working with APIs at scale. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines. Exposure to front-end frameworks (React, Angular, etc.). Understanding of Agile methodologies. Experience working in high-availability or client-facing environments.
