Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Google Cloud Platform Data Engineer / Data Governance Engineer with strong hands-on experience in Google Cloud Dataplex / Knowledge Catalog. The ideal candidate will be responsible for implementing and managing enterprise data cataloging, metadata management, data discovery, governance, lineage, and data quality capabilities across Google Cloud Platform data platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage Google Cloud Dataplex / Knowledge Catalog solutions for enterprise data discovery and governance.
• Configure and manage metadata, data assets, data zones, entries, and metadata aspects within Knowledge Catalog.
• Develop and maintain enterprise data catalogs, business glossaries, taxonomies, and metadata frameworks.
• Implement data lineage, data discovery, data profiling, and data quality capabilities.
• Configure data quality rules and DataScans to monitor and improve data quality.
• Integrate Knowledge Catalog with BigQuery, Cloud Storage, BigLake, and other Google Cloud Platform data services.
• Implement IAM, RBAC, policy tags, data classification, and access controls in accordance with governance requirements.
• Develop automation using Python, SQL, APIs, Terraform, or other Google Cloud Platform-native tools where applicable.
• Troubleshoot cataloging, metadata ingestion, lineage, permissions, and data quality issues.
• Collaborate with data architects, engineers, analysts, security teams, and business stakeholders.
• Document data assets, metadata standards, governance processes, and technical solutions.

Required Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Dataplex / Dataplex Universal Catalog / Knowledge Catalog.
• Strong understanding of Google Cloud Platform data governance and metadata management.
• Experience with BigQuery and Google Cloud Storage (GCS).
• Experience with data lineage, data discovery, metadata management, and data quality.
• Strong knowledge of Google Cloud Platform IAM, RBAC, Policy Tags, and data security.
• Proficiency in SQL.
• Experience with Python for data engineering or automation.
• Understanding of cloud data architecture and ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Experience working with enterprise data governance frameworks.
