Our client is a large and complex government organisation undertaking a significant Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) transformation program focused on modernising and optimising its core technology environment. The program is aimed at creating a more sustainable, secure, resilient, and efficient ERP landscape while supporting the retirement of legacy systems and improving critical business processes.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced ERP Business Consultant - Senior (HCM) to provide specialist functional and technical expertise across SAP HCM, with a particular focus on Payroll and Organisational Management. Acting as a key link between business and technology teams, you will ensure the HCM solution remains fit-for-purpose, effectively supported, and continuously improved. The role requires strong hands-on SAP HCM expertise, including configuration, testing, and payroll cycles within a complex, high-volume payroll environment. You will work closely with business stakeholders and technology teams to understand requirements, improve processes, resolve complex issues, and deliver sustainable HCM solutions that support broader ERP transformation and operational objectives.

Rate:

$1,250 + GST per day

Key Accountabilities and Outcomes

Provide hands-on functional expertise across SAP HCM, including configuration, testing, and payroll cycles.

  • Support SAP HCM within a complex, high-volume payroll environment.
  • Provide specialist functional and technical expertise across HCM Payroll and Organisational Management.
  • Develop and implement an effective support operating model to enable sustainable service delivery.
  • Build strong relationships with business and technology stakeholders.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on HCM processes, functionality, and system capabilities.
  • Lead stakeholder workshops to understand business requirements and identify opportunities for system improvement.
  • Gather, analyse, and translate business requirements into system enhancements and sustainable HCM solutions.
  • Maintain deep subject matter expertise across the HCM solution.
  • Support reporting, integrations, analytics, and complex system issue resolution.
  • Contribute to ERP upgrade and transformation activities.
  • Identify and drive opportunities for continuous improvement across HCM processes, systems, and support services.
Desired Experience and Capabilities

Demonstrated experience as an SAP Business Consultant specialising in HCM.

  • Strong hands-on experience supporting SAP HCM solutions within complex enterprise environments.
  • Experience with SAP HCM configuration, testing, and payroll cycles.
  • Experience supporting complex, high-volume payroll environments.
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA environments.
  • Demonstrated ERP consulting experience specialising in HCM.
  • Experience supporting government or large enterprise HR and Payroll operations.
  • Strong understanding of relevant compliance obligations in HR and Payroll environments.
  • Experience supporting HCM reporting, integrations, analytics, and complex issue resolution.
  • Experience developing or contributing to service delivery and support operating models.
  • Experience across Enterprise Applications Management and Technology Service Ownership would be highly regarded.
  • Experience working within large-scale government or regulated environments would be highly regarded.
Skills Requirements

SAP HCM Expertise - Strong functional knowledge of SAP HCM, including hands-on configuration, testing, payroll cycles, and system support.

  • HR & Payroll Expertise - Strong understanding of enterprise HR and Payroll processes within complex, high-volume environments.
  • Stakeholder Engagement - Ability to build trusted relationships, manage stakeholder expectations, and provide expert advice to business and technology stakeholders.
  • Requirements & Workshops - Proven ability to facilitate workshops, gather requirements, and translate business needs into effective system improvements.
  • Service Delivery - Experience developing or contributing to effective and sustainable HCM support and service delivery models.
  • Problem Solving - Strong analytical skills with the ability to investigate and resolve complex HCM and Payroll issues.
  • Communication Skills - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present effectively to senior stakeholders.
  • Continuous Improvement - Ability to identify and drive opportunities to improve HCM processes, system capability, and service outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications

Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline.

  • Relevant SAP HCM or SAP S/4HANA certifications.
  • Experience supporting major ERP transformation or upgrade initiatives.
  • Experience working within large-scale government or regulated organisations.
Additional Requirements

National Police Check.

  • Baseline National Security Clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) National Security Clearance.
  • Two professional reference checks.
  • 40 hours per week.
