Enterprise Business Architect Lead – Business Strategy & Capability Planning

Location: Dallas, TX — Fully Onsite
Employment Type: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire
Pay Rate: $80 Hourly

About the Role

We are seeking an Enterprise Business Architect Lead who can connect enterprise strategy to business capabilities, processes, data, organizational needs, and technology decisions.

This is a business-led architecture role focused on shaping initiatives before they become projects, strengthening business cases, and helping executives make better investment decisions. Success requires hands-on analysis, stakeholder facilitation, and ownership of practical outcomes.

The ideal candidate follows this approach:

Business Need → Business Process → Internal Capability → External Solution

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess proposed initiatives before significant investment, clarifying business needs, desired outcomes, scope, and enterprise implications.

  • Translate enterprise strategy into actionable capability, process, and operating-model improvements.

  • Build and maintain enterprise business capability maps that support prioritization, investment planning, and identification of gaps and duplication.

  • Strengthen business cases through alternatives analysis, benefit assessment, risks, dependencies, and clear recommendations.

  • Evaluate opportunities to improve or reuse existing capabilities before pursuing new external solutions.

  • Identify overlapping initiatives, integration opportunities, and impacts across business units.

  • Develop clear options and recommendations for executive decisions and architecture or governance reviews.

  • Partner with business leaders, the Enterprise Data Team, Program Management, and IT to align initiatives with enterprise priorities.

  • Facilitate discussions across business and technology teams, influencing decisions without formal authority.

  • Establish business architecture practices incrementally, demonstrating near-term value while building organizational maturity.

  • Support implementation planning and follow-through so recommendations translate into practical changes.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in enterprise business architecture, including business capability modeling, process analysis, operating-model assessment, and strategy execution.

  • Hands-on experience shaping initiatives before project approval or funding.

  • Proven ability to develop or improve business cases, assess alternatives, and support executive investment decisions.

  • Experience creating capability and process views that business leaders actively use for planning and prioritization.

  • Ability to evaluate business, process, data, organizational, and technology implications together.

  • Track record of identifying duplicate capabilities or initiatives and recommending consolidation, reuse, or integration.

  • Strong executive communication, analytical, and facilitation skills.

  • Experience working across business leadership, data, program management, and technology organizations.

  • Evidence of personal ownership from analysis and recommendation through implementation planning and follow-through.

  • Ability to work fully onsite in Dallas, TX, with interest in a contract-to-hire opportunity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience establishing or maturing a business architecture practice.

  • Experience with enterprise transformation, portfolio prioritization, investment governance, or business operating-model design.

  • Familiarity with business architecture methods such as BIZBOK or comparable approaches, applied pragmatically to business outcomes.

What Success Looks Like

  • Better-defined initiatives and stronger investment decisions.

  • Clear visibility into enterprise capabilities, gaps, and duplication.

  • Practical recommendations that influence what the organization funds, changes, combines, or stops.

  • Strong relationships across business and technology teams.

  • Useful architecture practices that grow with organizational demand.

Candidates whose experience is primarily in technology platforms, infrastructure, cloud, or solution architecture must also demonstrate substantial business architecture ownership and business decision impact.

How to Apply

Please submit your resume highlighting:

  • An initiative you shaped before funding or project approval.

  • How your capability or process analysis influenced an enterprise decision.

  • A business outcome you personally helped deliver.
