HR Data & Reporting Officer
3 month contract Inside IR35 - 157 per day
Basingstoke - 2 days a week onsite
We're looking for an HR Data & Reporting Officer to join a large organisation undergoing significant transformation. This is a hands-on, three-month contract focused on the day-to-day management, validation and reporting of employee and organisational data.
The role would suit someone who is highly confident using Excel, comfortable working with large datasets and able to identify and resolve data discrepancies with minimal supervision.
You'll be supporting the HR team with the accurate processing and maintenance of employee data, producing regular reports and helping to ensure information is complete, accurate and up to date.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain and update employee and organisational data within the HR system.
- Process employee lifecycle changes including starters, leavers, contract changes and internal moves.
- Run regular HR and workforce reports and analyse the data in Excel.
- Produce headcount and workforce reporting, including analysis by department and other organisational areas.
- Identify duplicate, missing or inaccurate records and investigate discrepancies.
- Validate and reconcile employee data across HR, Payroll and Finance systems.
- Produce scheduled and ad hoc management information and reports.
- Support data quality checks and ensure HR records are maintained accurately.
- Handle confidential employee information appropriately and in line with data protection requirements.
- Support testing and data checks relating to system updates and improvements.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes and reduce manual administration.
What we're looking for
Essential:
- Strong practical Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience analysing and manipulating large datasets.
- Confident using functions such as XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, IF formulas, PivotTables and conditional formatting.
- Experience identifying data discrepancies, duplicates and data-quality issues.
- Experience producing reports, management information or workforce reporting.
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to data.
- Comfortable handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Able to work independently and contribute quickly in a short-term assignment.
Desirable:
- Experience using Workday or another HRIS.
- Previous experience working with HR, employee or workforce data.
- Experience with HR/payroll systems.
- Power BI or other reporting/BI tools.
- Experience with data reconciliation and process improvement.
This is a practical, hands-on role, so we're particularly interested in candidates who are comfortable getting into the detail of employee data, running reports, investigating discrepancies and working with Excel on a daily basis.
