SAP Revenue Accounting and Reporting (RAR) Consultant

Role: SAP RAR Functional Consultant
 
Location: St Louis, Missouri or Virginia 

Client is seeking an experienced SAP Revenue Accounting and Reporting (RAR) Functional Consultant to support the design and implementation of revenue recognition processes within an SAP S/4HANA environment.

Key Responsibilities

Lead SAP RAR requirements gathering, solution design, configuration, testing, and deployment.

Design end-to-end revenue recognition processes from Sales Order → Customer Contract → Revenue Accounting Contract → Revenue Recognition → Financial Accounting.

Configure Performance Obligations (POB), fulfillment events, and revenue recognition rules.

Design revenue allocation using Standalone Selling Price (SSP) and allocation rules.

Support complex customer arrangements involving products, equipment, services, warranties, installation, and multi-element contracts.

Design event-based and time-based revenue recognition scenarios.

Configure integration between SAP Sales and Distribution (SD), SAP RAR, and SAP Financial Accounting (FI/GL).

Support integration with SAP Project System (PS) for project/Engineer-to-Order scenarios where revenue recognition is tied to project milestones or customer deliverables.

Evaluate existing revenue-recognition processes and determine appropriate migration to SAP RAR.

Define contract modifications, cancellations, returns, credits, and prospective/retrospective accounting treatment.

Support IFRS 15 / ASC 606 revenue-recognition requirements.

Define RAR accounting postings, reconciliation, period-end processing, and financial reporting.

Work closely with Finance, Order-to-Cash, Sales, Project Systems, and technical/integration teams.

Prepare functional specifications, configuration documentation, test scenarios, and support SIT/UAT.

Troubleshoot RAR contract, POB, fulfillment, allocation, posting, and reconciliation issues.

Required Experience

Strong hands-on SAP RAR implementation experience, preferably with SAP S/4HANA.

Strong understanding of ASC 606 / IFRS 15.

Experience with SAP SD → RAR → FI integration.

Experience with SSP determination, POB configuration, fulfillment, allocation, contract modifications, and revenue postings.

Manufacturing industry experience preferred; experience with Engineer-to-Order, Make-to-Order, project-based sales, equipment + service contracts, or milestone billing is highly desirable.

SAP PS/RAR integration experience is a strong plus.
