This is an opportunity to join a business where teamwork, mutual support and pride in the finished job are central to how people work. You will work closely with experienced colleagues and Directors, taking ownership of your projects while having access to practical knowledge and support across the business.
The company recognises that its people are its greatest asset and is committed to providing a positive working environment where they can develop and build long-term careers. Your experience will be valued, your contribution will be visible and you will have opportunities to help improve how projects are planned and delivered.
The business delivers specialist mechanical, electrical and associated infrastructure works, combining technical expertise with the civil engineering and construction activities needed to complete its projects. Its work supports environments where quality, reliability, professionalism and discretion are essential.
Your civil engineering experience will be particularly valuable in managing the interfaces between infrastructure, building works and mechanical and electrical installations. You will work alongside specialist colleagues to bring these elements together, maintaining control of programmes, costs, safety and quality.
The company is based in South Hampshire, with projects throughout the UK. This role will involve office attendance and travel to project sites, including working away where required.
The Opportunity
You will manage projects from initial planning and mobilisation through delivery, completion and handover, building strong relationships with clients and coordinating the people and resources needed to deliver successfully.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing project requirements, specifications and contractual obligations to establish a clear delivery plan
- Planning programmes, labour, subcontractors, materials and other project resources
- Coordinating civil engineering and construction activities alongside mechanical and electrical installations
- Leading and supporting project teams, engineers and subcontractors
- Managing project budgets, monitoring costs and maintaining commercial control
- Identifying changes in scope and managing variations, supporting information and invoicing
- Establishing safe systems of work, including RAMS, permits and appropriate site arrangements
- Monitoring progress, undertaking site inspections and resolving delivery challenges
- Maintaining clear project records and reporting progress, risks and financial performance to senior management
- Overseeing quality, completion documentation and handover
You will work closely with the Operations Director, Directors and colleagues across project delivery, commercial, finance and health and safety.
There is also scope to contribute to tender reviews, site surveys and improvements to project management systems, drawing on your experience to help the wider business develop.
About You
You will bring proven construction Project Management experience, a strong civil engineering background and the confidence to take responsibility for delivery.
We are looking for:
- Experience managing civil engineering, infrastructure or construction projects
- An understanding of how civil works interface with mechanical and electrical installations
- The ability to manage programmes, budgets, resources and subcontractors
- Experience leading people and maintaining productive working relationships
- Strong client-facing communication and the confidence to resolve issues professionally
- Sound commercial judgement, including managing changes and variations
- A practical approach to health and safety, quality and site organisation
- Good attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
- A project management qualification or equivalent relevant experience
- A full driving licence and willingness to travel to projects throughout the UK
EUSR registration would be advantageous. Experience within defence, utilities or other controlled operational environments would also be useful.
You should be comfortable taking ownership, sharing information and working collaboratively with colleagues from different technical disciplines. Professionalism and discretion are important given the nature of the company's clients and projects.
What's on Offer?
- £60,000–£70,000 basic salary, depending on experience
- Company vehicle
- Varied projects within specialist defence and secure government environments
- Training and continued professional development
- Support for relevant professional qualifications
- Scope for career development and increasing responsibility
- A supportive team, working closely with experienced colleagues and Directors
- The opportunity to influence project delivery and contribute to the development of the business
You will join a company that values technical knowledge, dependable delivery and people who take pride in working together.
