Job Description

A globally leading consumer device company headquartered in Cupertino, CA is looking for a Mechanical FEA Engineer to join their team. In this role, you will use understanding of mechanics, materials and numerical methods to play a key role in predictive engineering and directly impact the success of new products.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform nonlinear static and dynamic finite element analysis using Abaqus, ANSYS, or equivalent CAE tools.
  • Develop structural, thermomechanical, and heat-transfer models for consumer electronic products and components.
  • Build and validate models for materials such as polymers, elastomers, adhesives, and brittle materials using physical test data.
  • Analyze simulation results, identify potential failure modes, and recommend design improvements to enhance product performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and external vendors to communicate findings and support product development and validation.
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience in FEA in large-volume consumer electronic industry.
  • Experience in running non-linear static and dynamic Finite Element Analysis using Abaqus, Ansys, or equivalent CAE packages. Abaqus is strongly preferred.
  • Expertise in structural, thermomechanical, and heat transfer modeling.
  • Experience in modeling of different classes of materials including polymers, elastomers, soft adhesives, and brittle materials.
  • Experience with calibration, verification, and validation of models through physical testing.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact with multi-functional teams, management, and external vendors.

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficiency in Matlab, Python, and Abaqus User Subroutines is a plus
  • Experience with using CAD tools such as NX, Solid-works is preferred.
  • Additional expertise in fracture mechanics, adhesive materials, electromagnetic, acoustic, and CFD is preferred.

Type: Contract
Duration: 12 months with extension
Work Location: Cupertino, CA (100% on site)
Pay range: $80.00 - $95.00 (DOE)
