What you’ll be doing

• Interpret engineering drawings, prepare materials, and cut plate using methods such as oxy-fuel cutting.
• Assemble ship structures, ensuring accurate fitting, fairing, and tack-welding of components like bulkheads and decks.
• Fabricate various ship items including seats, ladders, panels, and watertight doors.
• Form materials using machinery such as rolling and cutting equipment.

What You'll Need

• Modern Apprenticeship certificate (Trade Papers) and relevant mechanical qualifications (e.g., SVQ3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
• Up-to-date fabrication knowledge and hands-on experience in construction or manufacturing.
• Understanding and application of core manufacturing processes, including tack welding to safety and quality standards.
• Proven ability to operate oxy-fuel and/or plasma cutting equipment confidently.
• Adherence to SHE principles and risk-assessment requirements.
• Experience working safely in confined spaces or at height, with relevant certifications.
