Job Description

Job Title:  Technical Lead:  Salesforce Architecture

Worksite:  Windsor, CT (Onsite M-thurs)

Our Client based in Hartford, CT has an immediate opportunity for a Principal Software Engineer/Lead to serve as the top technical authority for our enterprise Salesforce platform (Sales, Service, Experience Cloud). This role owns architecture, governance, and modernization across 3–5 delivery teams (~20 engineers, admins, DevOps, analysts) — blending hands-on engineering (~40-50%) with architecture, governance, and mentorship (~50-60%). Reports to Sr. Manager, Architecture & Application Development.
Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership: Set Salesforce architecture standards and platform roadmap; lead architectural reviews; mentor senior engineers/architects; document decisions via ADRs
  • Architecture & Design: Own org strategy (single vs. multi-org), data model, sharing/security architecture, and the declarative-vs-programmatic decision framework; architect for scale within governor limits and large data volumes
  • Platform Engineering: Lead development in Apex, LWC, Flow, Platform Events; drive reusable frameworks, bulkification discipline, and retirement of legacy Visualforce/Aura/Process Builder
  • Integration: Design/govern API and event-driven integrations (REST, SOAP, middleware, messaging); define canonical data contracts, error handling, and reconciliation patterns
  • Data Governance: Own data model, quality, retention, and migration/consolidation strategy
  • Modernization: Drive adoption of Flow, LWC, Data Cloud, Einstein/Agentforce; set standards for AI-assisted development
  • DevOps: Own CI/CD, source-driven development, release management, and seasonal release readiness across 3 annual Salesforce releases
  • Security & Risk: Own security/sharing model, least-privilege design; partner with InfoSec on encryption, monitoring, and AppExchange risk review
  • Vendor/Cost: Guide license optimization, AppExchange governance, and SI/offshore delivery oversight
  • Cross-Functional: Translate business needs into technical solutions and technical trade-offs into business terms for stakeholders up to executive level
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's in CS, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 15+ years software engineering experience; 12+ years Salesforce platform development/architecture
  • Deep expertise in Salesforce security/sharing model, data architecture, and enterprise-scale solution design
  • Strong grasp of distributed systems, integration patterns, and enterprise integration governance
  • Proven track record leading technical initiatives across teams without direct authority
  • Experience establishing engineering governance and architecture review processes
  • Strong stakeholder communication skills (technical to executive)

Apex, LWC, Flow, Platform Events, Salesforce APIs (REST/SOAP/Bulk/Streaming); Sales/Service/Experience Cloud; MuleSoft or equivalent middleware; Kafka/JMS/Azure Service Bus; OAuth/JWT/SAML; Salesforce DX, Git, CI/CD (Gearset/Copado/Flosum); PMD/Code Analyzer
Preferred
  • Regulated industry experience (insurance, financial services, healthcare)
  • End-to-end CRM transformation leadership; org consolidation/M&A integration experience
  • Einstein/Agentforce/Data Cloud experience
  • Certifications: CTA, Application/System/ Integration/Data Architect, Platform Developer II
