Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Data Architect to lead and evolve an enterprise data ecosystem centered around Snowflake and AWS. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in data architecture, data engineering, enterprise database design, and modern cloud data platforms.

This role will focus on designing scalable data models, optimizing Snowflake environments, architecting enterprise data pipelines, developing semantic layers, and establishing modern data governance and metadata frameworks.

Candidates with strong Retail industry experience, particularly with store operations, POS, supply chain, or e-commerce, are highly preferred. Candidates with strong Finance or Healthcare enterprise experience may also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Data Architecture

• Lead the architecture and optimization of enterprise data platforms using Snowflake and AWS.
• Design scalable, secure, and high-performance data architectures.
• Define data modeling standards including 3NF, Dimensional/Kimball, and Data Vault.
• Perform Snowflake performance tuning, cost optimization, and multi-cluster management.
• Design data flows across distributed enterprise environments.

Data Pipeline & Integration

• Architect enterprise-grade ETL/ELT pipelines using Apache Airflow / Astronomer.
• Design reliable and scalable data integration solutions.
• Work with diverse enterprise systems including POS, ERP, CRM, and e-commerce platforms.
• Ensure efficient and low-latency data processing and integration.

Semantic Layer & Data Governance

• Design and implement enterprise semantic layers to standardize business metrics.
• Work with technologies such as dbt, Cube, and AtScale.
• Establish data cataloging, metadata management, data lineage, and governance practices.
• Build data architecture that supports future AI/ML initiatives and knowledge graph capabilities.

Leadership & Collaboration

• Partner with business leaders, store/e-commerce teams, data engineers, and technical stakeholders.
• Translate business requirements into scalable data architecture solutions.
• Communicate architectural decisions, trade-offs, and technical roadmaps to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Drive cross-functional alignment on enterprise data strategies.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive experience in data architecture, data engineering, and enterprise database design.
• Deep expertise in Snowflake, including:
  • Architecture
  • Performance optimization
  • Multi-cluster management
  • Data sharing
  • Cost optimization
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS data services, including S3, Glue, Redshift, Athena, IAM, EKS/ECS.
• Strong experience with Astronomer / Apache Airflow.
• Advanced SQL skills, including complex transformations, analytics, query optimization, and tuning.
• Strong understanding of enterprise data modeling.
• Experience with semantic layers, data catalogs, metadata management, and data lineage.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Retail industry experience, especially with store operations, POS, supply chain, or e-commerce.
• Experience in Finance, Banking, Healthcare, or other complex enterprise environments.
• Experience with dbt, Cube, or AtScale.
• Knowledge of AI/ML data architecture and knowledge graph concepts.
• Experience working with large-scale distributed data environments.
