As the nation's longest-standing provider of swim lessons, the Y plays a vital role in promoting water safety and skill development.

We are currently seeking a Diverse Abilities Swim Instructor to provide direct leadership, instruction, and motivation for students in swimming classes designed for individuals with diverse abilities.

Experience working with children with special needs is a mustPosition ResponsibilitiesInstruct swim lessons aligned with YMCA standardsCreate a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environmentMotivate and support swimmers with diverse abilitiesDemonstrate and teach proper swimming techniquesUphold and model YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, ResponsibilitySchedule & AvailabilityMondays 5-6 p.m.

Additional private lessons availableQualificationsMust be at least 18 years oldRequired experience working with children with diverse abilitiesAbility to demonstrate swim instructor skills, including 4 of the 6 strokes in good form per YMCA standardsPreferred: YMCA Swim Instructor certification or equivalentCertifications a plus: CPR for the Professional RescuerBasic First AidAbility to perform physical tasks required for swim instructionCompensation$15/hour to start - experience working with children with special needs is a mustJoin our team and make a meaningful impact by helping individuals of all abilities gain confidence, safety, and skills in the water.

All positions require the ability to obtain PA State Police, PA Child Abuse History, FBI Fingerprint and National Sex Offenders Registry Clearances. If you do not have current clearances the Y will help you obtain them. Free clearances are based on a six-month retention.
